Patent number: 5293865Abstract: An anesthetics monitoring device includes an anesthetic vaporizer, from which the anesthetic can be supplied to a setting device supplying dosed amounts of anesthetic to an anesthetics device for dispensing the anesthesia to a patient. The device has a coding for the unmistakable assignment of the setting device to the type of anesthetic used. An automatic recognition of the anesthetic used and a setting to a metering and control unit for dispersing the anesthetic is guaranteed. Any incorrect metering and incorrect setting is prevented. For this purpose, the coding is brought into an operative connection with a receiver provided between the setting device and the anesthetics dispersing device. The receiver is equipped with a scanning apparatus which is connected to the metering and control dispensing unit by means of signal transfer lines.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 1990Date of Patent: March 15, 1994Assignee: Dragerwerk AGInventors: Ulrich Altner, Claus-Dieter Brandt, Wilfried Buschke, Wolfgang Falb, Gotz Kullik, Carl F. Patent number: 5119810Abstract: The invention is directed to a ventilating apparatus including a ventilating device and a closed breathing circuit wherein fresh gas is metered by means of a controller via a fresh gas line. A reservoir having a changeable volume is connected to the fresh gas line. In this way, at least the quantity of respirating gas which is consumed is again replenished. This arrangement is improved such that a very small quantity of respirating gas can be metered with the compliance of the entire system being low and remaining necessarily constant. With the invention, a system is obtained which is easy to control with the smallest possible configuration and least complex measuring sensors. For this purpose, a reservoir connected downstream of the metering unit is branched off of the fresh gas line and is provided with a level indicator. The signal of the level indicator indicates the level and is supplied as an actual value to the controller and compared to a pregiven desired value.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 1990Date of Patent: June 9, 1992Assignee: Dragerwerk AktiengesellschaftInventors: Siegfried Kiske, Carl F. Patent number: 5062999Abstract: The invention is directed to a vaporizer for an anesthetic medium having a throttle arrangement for throttling the gas flowing therethrough. A compensating arrangement is provided for adjusting a throttle gap in dependence upon ambient temperature and has a rod body made of a material having a low thermal coefficient of expansion. This rod body is accommodated in a sleeve made of a material having a high thermal coefficient of expansion. The rod body is tightly joined at one end thereof to the sleeve and, at its other end, the rod body is joined to a molded part. This molded part and a second molded part conjointly define the throttle gap. With the invention, a thermal adjustment device is provided for the throttle gap for which only simply formed parts are used and which are made of material not resistant to corrosion and which are easily galvanized. The housing of the throttling device is of a complicated configuration and can be made of a corrosion resistant material.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1990Date of Patent: November 5, 1991Assignee: Dragerwerk AktiengesellschaftInventors: Carl F. Patent number: 4924861Abstract: A piston and cylinder unit provides a supply actuable by means of an actuation device for delivering respiratory air in a respiratory cycle of a respirator. Its piston is sealed with its cylinder by means of a pair of rolling membranes arranged symmetrically with regard to one another. The membranes separate the cylinder contents into an antechamber and a working chamber. The wear of the rolling membranes during the working strokes and especially during the starting is decreased by a clean rolling of the folds. Also a leakage control takes place even during operation and an immediate detection of leaks due to bending stress, aging or other influences is guaranteed. For this purpose an inner chamber which is enclosed by the two rolling membranes is under a pressure different from the pressure in the antechamber and the working chamber so that the highest pressure is on a concave inside of the folds.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 1989Date of Patent: May 15, 1990Assignee: Dragerwerk AGInventors: Siegfried Kiske, Erik Schwanbom, Carl F. Patent number: 4651730Abstract: In medical apparatus, an accurate and quickly responding metering is required for admixing anesthetic gases. The gas pressure must not be a disturbing factor. A gas metering device comprises a metering unit connected to the gas source and delivering the metered gas through an outlet. A control is effected through an electrically operated control unit having a desired value input section and a display section. The gas enters into an inlet buffer of the metering unit and passes therefrom into a pressure space and simultaneously, through a change -over valve 11 in normal position, into a measuring space. In its switched position, a change over valve establishes connection to the outlet. In the outlet line a switch valve is provided closing in its normal position and opening in its switched position. The pressure space and the measuring space are connected to each other through a differential pressure sensor.Type: GrantFiled: December 10, 1984Date of Patent: March 24, 1987Assignee: Dragerwerk AGInventors: Tronje von dem Hagen, Carl F. Patent number: 4579115Abstract: With closed respiratory systems, the patient's respiratory tract is tightly connected to a closed volume to which breathing gas is supplied only in the amount taken in by the patient. To this end, the breathing gas supply must be controlled. The controlled variable is either the pressure in the ventilating circuit, or the concentration of oxygen or the anesthetic gas in the breathing gas. A dropping pressure indicates either an increased consumption or a leak. To avoid insufficient or excessive loading of the patient, it is very important to be able to distinguish consumption from a leak. The inventive device makes this distinction possible. The breathing gas amounts are adjusted in the ventilating circuit at preset different pressures and are compared with each other, and the leak portion is computed therefrom.Type: GrantFiled: January 14, 1985Date of Patent: April 1, 1986Assignee: Dragerwerk AGInventors: Carl F. Patent number: 4552139Abstract: In anaesthetics evaporators, the gas flow conducted through them is enriched with an anaesthetic contained in the evaporator to a desired concentration. In the anaesthetics evaporator the gas flow is divided into two part flows, the by-pass flow and the evaporating chamber flow. Both part flows are regulated by valves and regulators to obtain an exact relative flow ratio. To achieve this, this ratio must be maintained and monitored. The monitoring equipment is simple and can be retrofitted. It includes a differential pressure measuring instrument and a thermometer with a holder. The differential pressure measuring instrument is a differential pressure manometer connected via hoses and an adapter to both the inlet and outlet of the gas flow to the anaesthetics units. The thermometer to measure the evaporating temperature is fastened in well heat conducting manner to the anaesthetics evaporator by means of a holder.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 1984Date of Patent: November 12, 1985Assignee: Dragerwerk AktiengesellschaftInventors: Ulrich Altner, H. Patent number: 4522213Abstract: In medical apparatus important parameters are monitored by special systems. In case of irregularities, signaling urging remedy occurs. The signal is to be limited to the persons monitoring the apparatus to the extent possible and should not disturb persons not involved or present in the same room, from any delicate work they may be doing. Freedom of movement of the monitoring persons is to be preserved. To accelerate corrective measures, the signal gives them information which is easy to understand about the type of disorder. For this purpose the signal transmitters for the monitored limit values are connected to a signal converter, through which a describing text in intelligible language is assigned to each signal case. These announcements are conveyed to the monitoring persons through an output means movable with them and limited to their area, such as single earphones. The earphone is connected to the signal converter through a wireless or wire-bound movable connection.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 1984Date of Patent: June 11, 1985Assignee: Dragerwerk AktiengesellschaftInventors: Carl F.
