Patent number: 7426807Abstract: A composite utility pole or the like is shown, having an elongate member, where a deformable material is co-extruded over the outer surface. The elongate member can have any configuration, but is shown as a circular cross section, and can have structural ribs. Concrete fills the substantial portion of the pole to give it rigidity.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2004Date of Patent: September 23, 2008Inventors: Charles E Cadwell, Carl Fischer

Patent number: 7010077Abstract: A gated clock recovery circuit is disclosed that receives an input data stream and generates a frequency and phase aligned clock output. The gated clock recovery circuit substantially instantaneously adjusts the generated clock signal to phase changes in the incoming data stream. In addition, the gated clock recovery circuit generates the clock output signal using only transmitted non-predetermined data. The gated clock recovery circuit includes two PLL circuits. The first PLL (PLL1) adjusts to the frequency of the transmitter, and provides a bias voltage, CAP1, to the second PLL (PLL2) to indirectly initially tune the second PLL. The bias voltage, CAP1, is applied to the second PLL through a transmission gate (or switch) that is initially in a closed (short) position. Thus, the first PLL drives the bias voltage, CAP2, of the second PLL, to align the frequency with the transmitter, until received data opens the transmission gate.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2000Date of Patent: March 7, 2006Assignee: Agere Systems Inc.Inventors: Alfred Earl Dunlop, Wilhelm Carl Fischer

Publication number: 20040268246Abstract: Collateral content editor functionality may be provided to an electronic message application such that an electronic message interface includes an integrated collateral content editor interface for creating formatted and editable collateral content in-line within the body of an electronic message. The collateral content may be converted into a standard-format file that describes the formatting and defines the editable data elements (e.g., an HTML file with embedded XML data). In response to a send message command, the standard-format file may be delivered as an attachment to the electronic message. At the receiving end, it may be determined whether the electronic message application can invoke collateral content editor functionality compatible with the native file format. If so, the compatible collateral content editor functionality is invoked to convert the attachment into the native file format and to display the formatted and editable data elements inline within the body of the electronic message.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 16, 2003Publication date: December 30, 2004Applicant: Microsoft CorporationInventors: Roy Leban, Jane R. Publication number: 20020138630Abstract: A music scheduling algorithm (MSA) is provided for programmatically and dynamically creating a unique play list for each listener of an Internet radio service. The play list includes a mix of music influenced by user rated songs and artists and music the MSA infers the user will like. The MSA is provided a regularly updated pool of various music lists from which to select lists allowed by the user selected radio station affiliate. The MSA then factors in user rated songs and artists, user deletions, user music mix gauge settings, calculates user deep cut songs and performs music correlations of unrated songs to further define the play list.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2001Publication date: September 26, 2002Inventors: Barry M. Patent number: 6324677Abstract: A circuitry layout design allows more functional circuitry to be placed on an integrated circuit by placing functional circuitry on the unused silicon layer of the power I/O strip, which is located in the I/O ring surrounding the core of a processing integrated circuit. The functional circuitry placed on the power I/O strip can be shared by other I/O strips in order to conserve even more space.Type: GrantFiled: February 23, 1999Date of Patent: November 27, 2001Assignee: Agere Systems Guardian Corp.Inventors: Wilhelm Carl Fischer, Thaddeus John Gabara

Patent number: 6259326Abstract: The clock may be recovered rapidly for burst mode signals that are at one of a set of different a priority known frequencies by using a single device that is similar to that of U.S. Pat. No. 5,237,290 except that the delay lines used in each of the gated oscillators are controllably selectable so that the gated oscillators are each capable of providing a clock signal at more than one frequency. Typically, the same frequency is selected for use by both of the gated oscillators at any one time. This is achieved by having each gated oscillator be made up of 1) a plurality of “internal” gated oscillators that each have different length delay lines, and 2) a selector for selecting the output of one of the internal gated oscillators that is to be used for a particular frequency. The internal gated oscillators may be made up of delay elements. The ratio of the number of delay elements in the various internal gated oscillators to each other determines their relative frequency.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1999Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: Agere Systems Guardian Corp.Inventors: Alfred Earl Dunlop, Wilhelm Carl Fischer, Yusuke Ota

Patent number: 5757872Abstract: A clock recovery circuit is coupled to an elastic storage circuit such as a FIFO circuit. More specifically, a first input of the elastic storage circuit is electrically connected to an output of the clock recovery circuit. A second input for accepts a data signal representing an input data stream from a communications medium. A third input accepts a local clock signal. The resultant circuit may be used in receiver's for communications systems to help alleviate the problems of frequency mismatch and jitter.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 1994Date of Patent: May 26, 1998Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.Inventors: Mihai Banu, Alfred Earl Dunlop, Wilhelm Carl Fischer, Thaddeus John Gabara, Kalpendu Ranjitrai Shastri
