Patent number: 5637011Abstract: A wire termination device for terminating insulated wires using insulation displacement contacts. The device may employ a pivotally mounted lever with a curved slot for receiving a pin or may employ a pivotally mounted rocker arm, movement of the lever and rocker arm effecting termination of the insulated wire by forcing the wire into engagement with the insulation displacement contact.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 1996Date of Patent: June 10, 1997Assignee: TII Industries, Inc.Inventors: Carl H. Meyerhoefer, Thomas J. Smith, Adolfo M. Escobar, Robert J. Cannetti

Patent number: 5027100Abstract: A gas tube fail safe device for use in individual subscriber circuit telephone mmodules and related equipment, in which a fusible element is adapted to by-pass the conductive function of the gas tube in the event of gas tube failure. In one embodiment the construction provides for the fusing of the fusible element upon the occurrence of a sustained current overload. In another embodiment, this operation is supplemented by provision of secondary air gap means operative upon the occurrence of momentary excess voltage surges in the presence of a defective gas tube.Type: GrantFiled: February 12, 1990Date of Patent: June 25, 1991Assignee: Porta Systems Corp.Inventors: Helmuth Neuwirth, Carl H. Patent number: 4385539Abstract: The front panel of a table saw has a lever which controls the elevation of the saw blade relative to the saw table. The elevation control lever is also coupled to a bevel control means for tilting the saw blade (and its driving motor) with respect to the table. The combination of these translational and bevel movements results in a relatively large traverse of the elevation control lever. The elevation control lever projects through an opening in the front panel of the housing for the table saw, and this opening is of sufficient size and shape to accommodate the total excursion of the elevation control lever in its traverse. An articulated cover means is provided within the housing to prevent dust from entering into the housing via the opening, as well as to prevent inadvertent contact with the operating mechanism. This articulated cover means includes a first cover member which is disposed substantially flush against the opening on the inside of the front panel.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1981Date of Patent: May 31, 1983Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Carl E. Meyerhoefer, Carl H. Meyerhoefer

Patent number: 4359615Abstract: A switch actuator in the form of a bifurcated elongated member has a pair of legs pivoted relative to each other. In the "off" position of the switch, the legs may be pivoted relative to each other, and the actuator may be withdrawn from the switch. This precludes an unauthorized operation of the switch and the equipment controlled thereby. In the "on" position of the switch, an interlocking means precludes the relative pivotal movement of the legs, and the actuator may not be withdrawn from the switch. In the preferred embodiment, the legs of the actuator automatically engage an operating element of the switch, upon the insertion of the actuator into the switch. Thereafter, the actuator has a limited sliding movement to alternately move the switch into its "on" and "off" positions. Preferably, the switch is of the "pull on/push off" type; and the sliding movement of the actuator is in a plane which is substantially parallel to the linear movement of the switch operating element.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 1981Date of Patent: November 16, 1982Assignee: Black & Decker Inc.Inventors: Carl E. Meyerhoefer, Carl H. Meyerhoefer
