  • Patent number: 11919342
Abstract: A gooseneck ball extender is designed to mate with a center socket and receivers mounted to a towing vehicle and provide a gooseneck bell that is offset from the center socket. The extender has a cylindrical shaft with captured balls that can be moved between a retracted position and an extended position through a spring-loaded locking shaft that moves between an unlocked and locked position. The locking shaft is biased towards the locked position where the captured balls are extended. The extender has an outrigger portion that has puck locks. The puck locks are rotatable between a locked position and an unlocked position. As attached to the towing vehicle, the outrigger portion provides additional support to the gooseneck ball.

  • Publication number: 20240059111
Abstract: A coupler for a trailer is provided for capturing a hitch ball that is affixed to a towing vehicle. The coupler includes a hemisphere cylinder pocket to receive the hitch ball and a lever to capture the hitch ball. When the hitch ball enters the pocket, it moves the lever from a release position to a captured position. In either position, a portion of the lever protrudes into the pocket. A locking pin is biased against the lever. Once moved to the captured position, an aperture on the lever aligns with the locking pin and the locking pin extends through the locking pin, locking the lever in the captured position. To release the coupler, the user pulls the locking pin clear of the lever. The locking pin can be pulled clear with a manual release handle or an electrical actuator.

  • Publication number: 20240059112
Abstract: A self-resetting coupler is provided for capturing a hitch ball. The coupler includes a pocket to receive the hitch ball and a lever to capture the hitch ball in the pocket. When the hitch ball enters the pocket, it moves the lever from a release position to a captured position. A locking pin is biased towards a locked position. Once moved to the captured position, the locking pin moves to a locked position, locking the lever in the captured position. To release the coupler, the user pulls the locking pin clear of the lever, where it is held clear. As the hitch ball is removed, the lever moves the locking pin to be in biased contact therewith so that when the hitch ball is re-inserted, the locking pin moves to the locked position once the hitch ball is located in the pocket.

  • Patent number: 11794827
Abstract: A trailer coupler has a fixed frame portion that is connected to a moving frame portion with link arms. The link arms are attached to torsion components that are affixed to both the fixed frame portion and moving frame portion with the moving frame portion located between ends of the fixed frame portion. The moving frame portion has a resting position where the torsion components are at rest and a displaced position where external forces have caused the torsion components to move. The moving frame portion can be displaced through rotation or vertical movement by external forces.

  • Publication number: 20230150781
Abstract: A reversible ramp adapted for use with a trailer or truck that has an elongate rigid structure with a hook on one end for a trailer and a lip on the opposite end for a truck. The lip has a curved portion that protrudes beyond the elongate rigid structure and terminates at an edge with a lip plane extending from the edge to a corner of the elongate rigid structure. The hook terminates at an edge with a hook plane extending from the edge to a corner on the other end of the elongate rigid structure. The hook plane is at a larger angle with respect to the elongate rigid structure compared to the lip plane. In use, the hook plane aligns with the ground when the lip end is on the truck. Likewise, the lip plane aligns with the ground when the hook end is on a trailer.

  • Publication number: 20220402318
Abstract: A stowable stacked receiver has a fixed drawbar portion that allows affixation to a towing vehicle. Attached to the fixed drawbar portion is a movable stacked receiver that can pivot between a use and a stowed position. In the use position, the stacked receivers can receive a removable drawbar in a plurality of positions, and the stacked receivers are adjacent a flat surface on the fixed drawbar portion. In the stowed position, the stacked receivers are located underneath the fixed drawbar portion. A locking pin can be used to secure the movable stacked receiver in either the use or stowed position.

  • Patent number: 11370256
Abstract: A hitch tightening pin system is designed to attach a draw bar to a hitch receiver tube and prevent relative motion between the draw bar and receiver tube. The pin system has an elongate tapered shoulder bolt that has a larger and smaller outer diameter with a tapered surface extending between the larger and smaller outer diameter. The system includes an expansion sleeve that has arcuate portions. The expansion sleeve can slide onto the smaller outer diameter with the arcuate portions facing the tapered surface. A nut tightens to move the arcuate portions radially outwardly to apply force to the inside surface of a draw bar. The application of force causes the draw bar to be held tightly to the receiver tube and reduce or eliminate looseness or rattling during use.

  • Patent number: 10639950
Abstract: A torsion trailer coupler is affixed to a trailer between the tongue and an adjustable coupler. The torsion trailer coupler has a trailer side that affixes to the trailer and a coupler side that affixes to the adjustable coupler. The trailer side has torsion tubes that carry torsion bars and the coupler side has torsion tubes that carry torsion bars. The torsion bars between the trailer and coupler side are connected with torsion arms. The torsion trailer coupler moves between an unloaded position where the torsion bars and arms are at rest and a loaded position where force is applied between the sides and the torsion bars rotate about their central axes. The torsion bars, arms and sides cooperate to absorb transient forces between a towing vehicle and the tongue of the trailer.
