  • Patent number: 4106662
Abstract: An easy-open container having a wall in which an openable member is integrally formed and defined by a selectively separable region. The openable member has an opening tab which is raised outwardly from the container wall, with the opening tab having a flange which overhangs at least part of the separable region. Finger pressure applied inwardly onto the opening tab toward the container wall causes the separable region to become ruptured, allowing the openable member to move inwardly with respect to the wall. Inward movement of the openable member is limited by the overhanging flange which contacts the periphery of the opening. The separated opening member is retained on the container wall and is then displaced to reveal an opening in the container wall for access to the contents of the container. Several openable members are disclosed which can reclose the opened container. The opening tab is be an integral part of the openable member.

  • Patent number: 4054242
Abstract: A novelty package formable from a single blank, the package including a primary panel having a window, a secondary panel behind the primary panel and having a first area normally visible through the window and a second area visible through the window on sliding of the panels with respect to each other, and a flexible back on the package for normally holding the panels in a first position while allowing the panels to be slid with respect to each other. The package is intended to retain a product without impairing the slidable relation of the panels.

  • Patent number: 4023703

The openable member has an opening tab which is raised outwardly from the container wall, with the opening tab having a flange which overhangs at least part of the separable region. Finger pressure applied inwardly onto the opening tab toward the container wall causes the separable region to become ruptured, allowing the openable member to move inwardly with respect to the wall. Inward movement of the openable member is limited by the overhanging flange which contacts the periphery of the opening. In some embodiments, the separated opening member is retained on the container wall and is then displaced to reveal an opening in the container wall for access to the contents of the container. In other embodiments, the opening member becomes detachable from the container wall. Several openable members are disclosed which can reclose the opened container.

  • Patent number: 4003493
Abstract: An easy-open container having a wall in which an openable member is defined by a selectably separable region. A separate opening tab member is secured to the openable member to receive manual opening force and fracture the separable region. A flange on the opening tab member overlies at least part of the separable region to prevent the opening tab member and the attached openable member from freely entering the container. The openable member is nondetachably retained on the container by the configuration of the separated openable member, or by a pivotable connection between the opening tab member and the container.

  • Patent number: 4003491
Abstract: System for interconnecting containers into multiple-container groups, without requiring any packaging material. Complementary interconnecting structure is provided as an integral part of containers that can be interconnected in a vertical or end-to-end array, in a lateral or side-by-side array, or in combined vertical and lateral array. Numerous embodiments of container structure are disclosed for interconnecting containers into a multiple-container package having a desired vertical and/or lateral array.

  • Patent number: 3977561
Abstract: An easy opening container having a wall in which a tear tab is formed which is nondetachably removable from the wall. An opening tab lies alongside the wall with a nose portion overlying the tear tab, and with a handle portion lying alongside the wall at a location spaced from the tear tab portion. The opening tab is nondetachably connected to the wall by a bendable member having a bend line which permits the handle portion to be moved away from the wall, so that the nose portion moves inwardly into contact with the tear tab. The bendable connection between the handle and the wall remains on the wall at all times, and the opening tab is provided with means which permit only a limited extent of the opening tab to enter into the opening defined by tearaway and inward bending of the tear tab. An air vent into the opened container is provided.
