  • Publication number: 20210023733
Abstract: Referring to FIG. 1), a sawmill has a pair of spaced end frames (1), (2), (4), a support beam (17) spanning the end frames and a saw carriage (56) moveable along the beam to carry a saw towards one end frame and then towards the other end frame. Each end frame has a ground engaging cross bar (1), a movable horizontal member (2) mounted on the cross bar (1) and an upright post (4). For each end frame the horizontal member (2) can run along the cross bar (1) to move the post (4) and consequently the beam (17) in adjustable increments towards one side of the sawmill and then towards the other side of the sawmill. The posts (4) support the beam (17) in a vertically adjustable elevated disposition.

  • Publication number: 20100224043
Abstract: A sawmill uses a circular saw blade for use in horizontal or swing-blade sawing applications that has (1) has a central attachment (5) suitable for functionally attaching the blade to a driving mechanism with countersunk “flush” mounting attachment elements, a series of saw teeth (2) at the periphery of the blade, a series of apertures (3) between the teeth and the attachment portion, arranged to substantially reduce the weight and surface area of the blade by at least 5%, consequently reducing blade sag in horizontal position, friction and heat distortion in horizontal position, and/or gyroscopic stresses coming to bear on the blade and its mounting during the process of changing the blade from one disposition to another.

  • Publication number: 20040244557
Abstract: According to the invention there is provided a sawmill, the sawmill having first and second support frame 1 and 2, first and second rails 4 and 4, a first carriage 5, a second carriage 6, height adjustment drive means, and connection means; the sawmill being formed such that when it is in use it can be arranged with the first and second support frames 1 and 2 holding the first and second rails 3 and 4 in substantially horizontal elevated parallel relationship, the first carriage 5 being associated with the rails 3 and 4 and being capable of carrying a saw 7 longitudinally along such rails, the second carriage 6 being capable of moving the saw cross-ways with respect to the rails, the drive means being associated with the first support frame and the connection means connecting the drive means with the first rail and the second end frame; the sawmill being formed such that when it is in use the drive means can move the connection means to impart a lifting force at each of two opposite end parts of the first rai
