Patent number: 10006589Abstract: A method for storage and transport of LPG on LPG carriers, in particular two cargoes of different LPG types on same shipment, having reliquefaction units in which vaporized gases are condensed and then returned into at least one cargo tank for the respective LPG cargo type. The method is further comprising: using the reliquefaction units, at a minimum one running, as to condense vapor from the first cargo type; passing the condensed vapor through a heat exchanger; simultaneously flowing vapor from the second cargo type through the heat exchanger as to condense vapor by means of heat exchanging with the condensed vapor; and returning the condensed vapors leaving the heat exchanger back into the respective cargo types. The present invention is also disclosing a system for storage and transport of LPG on LPG carriers.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2016Date of Patent: June 26, 2018Assignee: WÄRTSILÄ OIL & GAS SYSTEMS ASInventor: Carl Jørgen Rummelhoff

Publication number: 20090100844Abstract: An apparatus and method for controlling temperature in a boil-off gas in a liquefaction plant prior to compression, wherein boil-off gas originating from an LNG storage tank is compressed and at least partially condensed, and wherein the condensed boil-off gas (LNG) is being returned to the storage tank. A heat exchanger (20) is connected to the boil-off gas feed line upstream of the compressor (10), and a first conduit (22) fluidly connects the line for returning LNG to the storage tank and the heat exchanger (20). A second conduit (26) fluidly connects the heat exchanger (20) to the boil-off gas feed line at a point upstream of the heat exchanger (20). Boil-off gas is heat exchanged against the cooler (24) prior to being fed into the compressor (10). Thus, the boil-off gas temperature is lowered downstream of the heat exchange.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 11, 2004Publication date: April 23, 2009Applicant: HAMWORTHY GAS SYSTEMS ASInventor: Carl Jorgen Rummelhoff

Publication number: 20080202158Abstract: A system for cooling a boil-off gas (BOG) stream prior to compression in a boil-off reliquefaction plant, comprising a line (10) for feeding BOG into a compressor (11; 11?) prior to heat exchange with a closed-loop refrigeration system. The refrigeration system comprising compressors (2, 3, 4) and expanders(8, 9) and a number of heat ex-changers for heat exchange with the BOG stream. The expanders (8, 9) are arranged in series. A precooler in the feed line (10) is fluidly connected (32, 33) to the closed-loop refrigeration system, whereby said BOG is pre-cooled in heat exchange with a portion of the coolant in the closed-loop refrigeration system prior to said compression.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 8, 2006Publication date: August 28, 2008Applicant: HAMWORTHY KSE GAS SYSTEMS ASInventors: Carl Jorgen Rummelhoff, Bjorn H.
