  • Publication number: 20220118170
Abstract: Apparatus, kits, and methods for administering a substance are presented. A device for administering a substance includes an elongated body having a proximal end and a distal end, the elongated body defining an internal chamber extending between the proximal end and the distal end to direct the substance to the distal end, the distal end to connect with a tip, the tip to be at least partially inserted into an orifice of a body lumen of a subject, the tip having a shape configured to reduce leakage of the substance from the orifice upon the at least partial insertion. The tip includes an opening to pass the substance from the internal chamber into the body lumen; and a transducer to emit an ultrasound wave from the tip into the body lumen, thereby administering the substance to tissue in the body lumen.

  • Patent number: 10814115
Abstract: The present disclosure provides devices and uses thereof. A devices disclosed herein comprises a plurality of microneedles adapted to protrude from the device. In some embodiments, a device is dimensioned and constructed to carry a payload, so that the payload can be delivered to an internal tissue of a subject or through a wall of a vessel after interaction with microneedles. In some embodiments, devices can be used for oral or intravenous administration. In some embodiments, devices can be used for implantation such as vaginal, rectal, urethral or bladder suppository or pessary.

  • Publication number: 20190111130
Abstract: Disclosed herein are compositions comprising a pharmaceutical agent and an ultrasound enhancing agent. The compositions are useful in combination with ultrasound to enhance delivery of a pharmaceutical agent to, for example, tissue of a subject in need thereof. Accordingly, also provided herein are methods involving ultrasound for delivering a pharmaceutical agent to a subject, e.g., a subject that has inflammatory bowel disease or proctitis.

  • Publication number: 20140228715
Abstract: A method of delivering a substance includes providing a substance at a location in a gastrointestinal (GI) tract, excluding a buccal membrane, of a biological body; and applying ultrasonic waves, having a frequency between about 20 kHz and about 10 MHz, at the location. The method can include storing the substance in at least one reservoir and exposing a medium within or of the GI tract to the substance. The method can further include delivering a device into the GI tract, the device including at least one ultrasound transducer and circuitry; powering the at least one ultrasound transducer and circuitry from within the device; and driving the at least one ultrasound transducer, using the circuitry, in a manner causing the at least one ultrasound transducer to emit ultrasonic waves to a medium within or of the GI tract.
