Patent number: 10275306Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling access to a memory device having adaptively split addressing of error-protected data words according to an inline memory storage configuration. An address translation section executes to convert a data address associated with a received command to inline data and inline error checking addresses corresponding thereto. Each data word's data and error checking bits are stored according to respective inline data inline error checking addresses. A segment of error checking bits is thereby offset in address from at least one segment of the same data word's data bits in a common chip of the memory device. A command translation section executes to convert between a received command to data access and error checking access commands for actuating respective access operations on the memory device. An error checking storage section intermediately stores error checking bits responsive to execution of the error checking access command.Type: GrantFiled: February 9, 2017Date of Patent: April 30, 2019Assignee: Cadence Design Systems, Inc.Inventors: John MacLaren, Carl Olson, Jerome J. Patent number: 8113360Abstract: The present invention relates generally to a shelf divider system for retail store product storage and display. More particularly, the present invention enables organization and presentation of a wide variety and types of products. A plurality of shelf dividers attach substantially perpendicularly to a pair of base strips. This perpendicular attachment is accomplished by inserting snap-fit pegs on the bottom of the shelf dividers into an array of mating holes formed in the base strips. Each adjacent pair of dividers forms a product organizing channel to keep the products in neat rows on the store shelf. Product paddles slide through the product organizing channel. An elongated pull ring attached to the product paddle causes products to move through the product organizing channel across the product shelf toward the front edge of the product shelf.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2008Date of Patent: February 14, 2012Inventor: Carl Olson

Publication number: 20070256992Abstract: There is provided a shelf divider system for organizing, moving, and displaying merchandize items on a store shelf. A plurality of dividers attach perpendicularly to a plurality of base strips by inserting knobs on the dividers into mating holes in the base strips. Each adjacent pair of dividers forms a channel for the merchandise. Merchandize carriers slide over the base strips between each adjacent pair of dividers. A pull strap is attached to the front end of each carrier for pulling it forward for moving the merchandize items forward on the shelf. The pull straps have longitudinal grooves therein for dividing the pull straps longitudinally into two narrower pull straps. The merchandize items are prevented from falling from the front of the shelf by transparent guards attached to guard holders. The shelf divider system may be attached to the shelf by clips, which attach a base strip to the shelf.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 4, 2006Publication date: November 8, 2007Inventor: Carl Olson

Publication number: 20060189374Abstract: An individual electronic game for playing lotto wherein acknowledgment as to the player's win or loss status is rapidly displayed. The player plays his/her selected numbers against the electronic lotto gaming apparatus randomly generated win numbers. In addition, the lotto gaming apparatus can transfer and receive lotto game information to a central processing system which is capable of handling multiple players from multiple lotto gaming apparatus either within a certain gaming facility or on a more universal, state wide, nationally or internationally. An additional embodiment of the invention allows individual players of the lotto games, with rapid determination of win status, via an electronic telecommunications network.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2006Publication date: August 24, 2006Inventor: Carl Olson

Patent number: 4687943Abstract: A motion picture film flaw detection system wherein a single inspection location is employed at which sound track side edge defects, sprocket hole side edge defects, thickness variations, and defective sprocket holes are analyzed by optical sensors so that no physical contact on the film by feeler arms or the like occurs. Film wear such as by scratching and rubbing is reduced since minimal contact occurs with a surface of the film as it travels through the system. The sprocket holes are analyzed by optics which provide a real image on a projection plane at which location excessive elongation of the sprocket holes is checked. Detection circuits are provided connecting to the optical sensors which derive a reference which automatically tracks averaged or weighted overall signal levels for comparison to signal variations caused by film thickness changes or film flaws. Accordingly, variations in optical system performance are automatically compensated for.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1985Date of Patent: August 18, 1987Assignee: Research Technology InternationalInventors: Howard Bowen, David Henderson, Carl Olson
