  • Publication number: 20110234720
Abstract: A method is disclosed for manufacturing a multi-part form (MPF) in a single pass process wherein at least some of plurality of parts of the MPF may include variable data such as a serial number, tracking number or barcode. One disclosed method may include passing a single web through a plurality of print-heads wherein each of the plurality of print-heads prints a top or bottom side of a different part of the MPF on a different portion of the web. The copy printed on the parts by the plurality of print-heads may include indicia for the sequence of parts of the MPF. The web may then be passed through a digital printer for the printing of variable data on at least some of the parts. The method may further include passing the web through at least one additional print-head for printing a CF coating on the top surface of one or more parts. The printing of the CF coating on the top surface of the one or more parts preferably does not overlap any variable data.

  • Patent number: 7988145
Abstract: A hold-down device is disclosed for holding down the leading edges of sheet materials, such as multiple-ply sheets or integrated forms, disposed in a tray of a printer in a horizontal or flat position prior to feeding the leading edge of the top sheet or integrated form into the printer feed mechanism. Because some sheet materials are prone to curling, which causes jamming in the feed mechanism or downstream in printing path within commonly used printers, the disclosed hold-down device maintains the leading edge of the top sheet in a flat or horizontal position so it can be reliably and evenly received in the feeder mechanism of the printer, thereby reducing the chances of jamming when sheet materials that are prone to curling, such as multiple-ply sheets or integrated forms, are being printed. The hold-down device includes a base with two ends. Each end may include a retainer or other means for detachably connecting the base to the paper tray of the printer.

  • Patent number: 7922210
Abstract: A multi-layer label with variable data and method for its manufacture. First indicia is printed on a first label face ply of a multi-ply label material in registration with an eventual location of at least one of a plurality of multi-layer labels. The first indicia may be variable between at least two of the plurality of multi-layer labels. A second label material is removably adhered to the multi-ply first label material, thereby covering the first indicia. Second indicia is printed on the face of the second label material.
