  • Patent number: 4470674
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved spectacle frame, provided with self-adjusting resilient means suspended in a chordal horizontal manner in the nose bridge area and attached respectively to the opposing inner ends of the frame. The resilient means which are formed of a flexible elastic material are adapted to conform in shape to the arcuate shape of the nose of the user, under the weight thrust of the spectacle frame. In conforming to the shape of the nose, the resilient means are capable of continuously supporting the frame on the nose in a proper mounting position and in proper lens alignment.Anchoring means are also provided for varying the points of attachment of the resilient means to the inner ends of the frame, so as to vary the tension as well as the height with respect to a horizontal plane of the resilient means.
