  • Patent number: 4074454
Abstract: The combination of a plastic multi-strand skirt with a curled tail made out of a substantially flat thin plastic. The strands of the skirt extend from a collar portion which may be wrapped about a tubular support member such that the skirt members trail along a first direction therefrom. The flat curled tail member may be mounted on the collar of the skirt in any of three different constructions. In one preferred embodiment, the curled tail member extends from the collar of the skirt in a direction opposite to the direction of extension of the strands of the skirt. In an alternative embodiment, the curled tail extends rearwardly along with the strands of the skirt so as to be intermingled therewith. In a still alternative embodiment, a pair of curled tails extend both forwardly and rearwardly of the collar of the skirt.

  • Patent number: 4060926
Abstract: A hollow fishing lure body having a cavity in its lower portion defined by a spherical wall with an opening leading from the cavity to the exterior of the body. A ball-shaped weight is rollably disposed in the cavity and has embedded therein the upper portion of a swivel member, whose lower portion loosely extends through the opening and terminates below the lure body in an eye for attachment of a fish hook, capable of maximizing swiveling movements of the hook. The lure is easily and economically fabricated by forming the lure body in two complemental halves, embedding the upper portion of the swivel member in the ball weight, placing the ball in the cavity of one of the two halves of the lure body with the lower portion of the swivel member extending loosely through the opening and the eye disposed below the lure body, and cementing the two halves of the body together. Preferably, the swivel member is formed in the shape of a figure eight.

  • Patent number: 4057926
Abstract: A strengthened fiberglass fishing rod includes a hollow, tubular butt section and a solid tip section, both sections being tapered longitudinally with the base of the tip section inserted in and cemented to the butt section. To conceal the joint between the two sections and greatly enhance the appearance of the rod, the frame of a guide for the fishing line is laid across the joint and fastened by a wrapping of thread which extends over contiguous end portions of the tip and butt rod sections. If desired, the wrapping over the rod section joint may be utilized alone without the fishing line guide. The invention also contemplates the method of making the described rod.
