    Abstract: An acid-fortified rosin is reacted with a water-soluble polyalkylenepolyamine. The product is a modified rosin polyamidopolyamine. The product can be partially or completely neutralized with a rosin, thereby forming a rosin soap of the polyamidopolyamine. The products can be emulsified in water, and are cationic, anionic or non-ionic depending on the pH of the water. The emulsions are sizing agents for paper.
