  • Patent number: 4764269
Abstract: Catalytic cracking catalyst compositions having a high degree of activity and selectivity for the production of high octane gasoline fractions which comprise stabilized crystalline molecular sieve SAPO-37 dispersed in an inorganic oxide matrix. The crystalline structure and activity of the SAPO-37 molecular sieve component is preserved by including a stabilizing amount of the organic template compound used in the manufacture of the molecular sieve within the pore structure thereof until such time as the catalyst is thermally activated during use.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 12, 1987
Date of Patent: August 16, 1988
    Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.
Inventors: Grant C. Edwards, Jean-Pierre Gilson, Carl V. McDaniel

  • Patent number: 4368922
Abstract: Underground coal is mined by sinking a hole into the coal, passing a coal solvent to the coal, and recovering a coal solution and/or dispersion products from the resulting solution or suspension.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 2, 1980
Date of Patent: January 18, 1983
    Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.

  • Patent number: 4316807
Abstract: Silane modified inorganic reaction product compositions, water based systems containing said compositions, drilling fluids containing said compositions and a method of drilling bore holes using said drilling fluids, wherein the silane-modified inorganic compositions comprise an aqueous solution, suspension or dispersion of a reaction product of a hydrous inorganic material selected from silicon oxide, aluminum oxide or mixtures thereof with from about 0.01 moles to about 0.3 moles per mole of oxide of an organo silane represented by the general formulaR.sub.x SiR'.sub.4-xwherein R represents a C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 hydrocarbon radical, R' represents an alkoxy or halo radical and x is an integer of 1 to 3. The subject compositions unexpectedly increase the viscosity while imparting pseudoplastic properties to aqueous systems.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 3, 1978
Date of Patent: February 23, 1982
    Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.
Inventors: Carl V. McDaniel, Nelson S. Marans
  • Patent number: 4218307
Abstract: A zeolite containing hydrocarbon cracking catalyst characterized by exceptionally high catalytic acitivity, superior coke selectivity and relatively low rate earth content. The catalyst is prepared by combining into a suitable matrix a zeolite prepared by a combination of thermal stabilization, de-alumination and rare earth ion exchange.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 9, 1979
Date of Patent: August 19, 1980
    Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.
    Inventor: Carl V. McDaniel
  • Patent number: 4166099
Abstract: Crystalline alluminosilicate zeolites are rapidly and efficiently prepared by seeding an aqueous mixture containing alumina, silica, and alkali metal hydroxide with zeolite seeds, i.e. nucleation centers having an average size below about 0.1 micron.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 2, 1977
