  • Patent number: 9887856
Abstract: A method may include, receiving, by a controller integral to a chassis, a user request to apply a switch configuration. The method may also include communicating from the controller to a remote access controller (RAC) integral to at least one module disposed in a plurality of slots of the chassis an indication that a user has requested application of a switch configuration. The method may further include receiving at the controller, in response to the indication, a request to download a switch configuration file from the controller to the RAC. The method may additionally include transferring from the controller, in response to the request to download the switch configuration file, the switch configuration file to the RAC such that the RAC applies parameters set forth in the switch configuration file in order to configure an in-band switch associated with the module comprising the RAC.

  • Publication number: 20150170484
Abstract: In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a method may include, in a chassis comprising a plurality of slots each configured to receive a module and electrically and communicatively couple the module to other components of the chassis, receiving an electrical signal indicative of a user interaction with an interface button integral to a first module received in one of the plurality of slots. The method may also include, responsive to the signal, causing display, from a respective visual indicator from each of one or more other modules which are a part of the same computing system as the first module, of a visual indication that the module having the visual indicator is part of the same computing system as the first module.

  • Patent number: 5581201
Abstract: A digital control circuit is constructed to use a single signal line for the dual functions of control and sensing the presence of the controlled device. The control circuit includes a driver element having an output capable of being placed in a high impedance allowing the signal line to be pulled to a first predetermined voltage potential when the controlled device is connected thereto, and a second voltage potential when the controlled device is absent therefrom. A receiver circuit monitors the signal line to sense presence of the one or the other of the voltage potentials.

  • Patent number: 5343478
Abstract: System configuration, monitoring and control functions are performed in a computer system by means of a serial test bus which is incorporated into the computer system for testing components, for example integrated circuits, used to construct one or more modules of the system. The conventional serial test bus is modified to include register circuitry on modules of the computer system and/or within integrated circuits which are interconnected to construct the modules. These registers are written and read by the serial test bus for configuring the computer system as well as performing other operations such as monitoring and error logging within the computer system. To extend the amount of information which can be contained within these registers, preferably memory devices such as EEPROM, RAM, and the like, are associated with the registers and accessible therethrough.
