Publication number: 20230254451Abstract: A vehicular monitoring system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing interior of the vehicle. The camera is operable to capture image data. Image data captured by the camera is provided to a data processor and is processed at the data processor. A wireless communication link links the vehicle with a remote communication device located remote from the vehicle. The remote communication device, responsive to communication received from the vehicle via the wireless communication link, displays video images derived from image data captured by the camera.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 10, 2023Publication date: August 10, 2023Inventors: Axel Nix, Christopher L. Patent number: 11627286Abstract: A vehicular sensing system includes a data processor disposed at a vehicle, a camera disposed at an in-cabin side of the vehicle windshield, and a range sensor disposed at the vehicle and having a field of sensing that overlaps a portion of the field of view of the camera. During a driving maneuver of the vehicle, the system detects another vehicle that is located within the radar sensors field of sensing and outside of the camera's field of view and determines movement of the range sensor-detected other vehicle relative to the vehicle. When the range sensor-detected other vehicle enters the field of view of the camera, the system, at least in part via processing at the data processor of image data captured by the camera, determines that the range sensor-detected other vehicle is an object of interest. A system output is provided for use by a driving assist system.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2021Date of Patent: April 11, 2023Assignee: MAGNA ELECTRONICS INC.Inventors: Axel Nix, Christopher L. Patent number: 11184585Abstract: A vehicular vision system includes a control disposed at a vehicle. A camera is disposed at an in-cabin side of the vehicle windshield and views forward of the vehicle. During a driving maneuver of the vehicle, the vehicular vision system, responsive at least in part to an output of a radar sensor, detects an object that is located within the radar sensor's field of sensing and outside of the camera's field of view and determines movement of the object relative to the vehicle. During the driving maneuver of the vehicle, information pertaining to movement of the detected object toward an area within the field of view of the camera is provided to the control. During the driving maneuver, and responsive to the provided information, and with the detected object present within the camera's field of view, the vehicular vision system determines that the detected object is an object of interest.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2021Date of Patent: November 23, 2021Assignee: MAGNA ELECTRONICS INC.Inventors: Axel Nix, Christopher L. Patent number: 10911721Abstract: A vehicular vision system for a vehicle includes a camera and an image processor operable to process image data captured by the camera. During a maneuver of the vehicle, the vehicular vision system, responsive at least in part to an output of a radar sensor, detects an object that is located within the radar sensor's field of sensing and outside of the camera's field of view and determines movement of the object relative to the vehicle. During the maneuver of the equipped vehicle, information pertaining to movement of the detected object toward an area within the field of view of said camera is provided to said vehicular vision system. During the maneuver of the equipped vehicle, and responsive to the provided information and with the detected object present within the camera's field of view, the vehicular vision system determines that the detected object is an object of interest.Type: GrantFiled: March 30, 2020Date of Patent: February 2, 2021Assignee: MAGNA ELECTRONICS INC.Inventors: Axel Nix, Christopher L. Patent number: 10609335Abstract: A vision system for a vehicle includes a camera and an image processor. The camera has a forward field of view exterior of the vehicle. The image processor is operable to process image data captured by the camera. At least one device is operable to detect objects that are present forward of the vehicle and outside of the forward field of view of the camera. The device may include at least one of (i) a sensor, (ii) an element of a vehicle-to-vehicle communication system and (iii) an element of a vehicle-to-infrastructure communication system. Responsive to detection of the object being indicative of the object about to enter the field of view of the camera, the image processor anticipates the object entering the field of view of the camera and, upon entering of the field of view of the camera by the object, the image processor detects the object.Type: GrantFiled: March 22, 2013Date of Patent: March 31, 2020Assignee: MAGNA ELECTRONICS INC.Inventors: Axel Nix, Christopher L. Patent number: 7142979Abstract: A navigation system that uses a method for transmitting the location of a vehicle to a location remote from the vehicle is provided. The method includes determining a location of the vehicle relative to a road network defined as a first location, and determining a change in the location of the vehicle relative to the road network defined as a second location. The first location may be a first street while the second location is a second street different that the first street. The navigation system then communicates the location of the vehicle to the remote location when vehicle reaches the second location. In another aspect of the present invention, the method includes determining a location of the vehicle relative to a road network defined as a first location. A new location of the vehicle is determined relative to the road network and is defined as a second location.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 2000Date of Patent: November 28, 2006Assignee: Magellan DIS, Inc.Inventor: Carl W.
