  • Patent number: 7583653
Abstract: A method for transmitting a data frame in a wireless communication system begins by creating a time of arrival (TOA) window, including a window start (WS) and a window end (WE). The TOA of the data frame at the air interface for transmission is determined, and further action is taken depending upon when the data frame arrives relative to the TOA window. The data frame is buffered if the TOA is before the WS. The data frame is transmitted if the TOA is within the TOA window. The data frame is discarded if the TOA is after the WE.

  • Patent number: 7581147
Abstract: A method for receiving a segmented communication begins by periodically transmitting the segmented communication. The segmented communication is received and each segment of the segmented communication is examined to determine if the segment is valid. If the segment is valid, then the segment is stored. If the segment is invalid, then the invalid segment is identified. The segmented communication is retransmitted and received. Only the identified invalid segments of the retransmitted communication are examined to determine if the previously invalid segments are now valid.

  • Publication number: 20090116442
Abstract: In a wireless communication system using a reference channel used for error rate measurement and associated with a plurality of transport channels multiplexed on a coded composite transport channel (CCTrCH), a method is employed for reselection of the reference channel from favorable candidate transport channels. A channel is initially selected from the plurality of multiplexed channels as the reference channel. Channels are monitored based on quantitative data content criteria to determine whether an ON or OFF state exists. A different channel is selected from the plurality of multiplexed channels as the reselected RTrCH when a better candidate transport channel in the ON state becomes available, or when the monitored RTrCH reflects an OFF state.

  • Publication number: 20090111381
Abstract: A method and apparatus for utilizing a switched beam directional antenna in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is disclosed. A wireless communication system includes a serving cell, a neighbor cell and a WTRU. The WTRU is configured to generate and steer a directional beam in a plurality of directions. Once the WTRU registers with the wireless communication system, the WTRU receives messages transmitted by the serving cell. The WTRU measures signal quality of messages received in each of a plurality of predetermined directions while steering the directional beam antenna. The WTRU selects a particular one of the directions having the best signal quality. As the WTRU constantly moves, the WTRU monitors signal quality in the selected direction, and switches to another direction when the signal quality in a current direction drops below a predetermined threshold.

  • Publication number: 20090083603
Abstract: A method for receiving periodic transmissions of a segmented communication is disclosed. The segmented communication is received and each segment of the segmented communication is examined to determine if the segment is valid. Valid segments are stored, while invalid segments are discarded. Next, it is computed when the invalid segments will be retransmitted. A subsequent transmission of the communication is received and a retransmission of a previously identified invalid segment is extracted, the retransmitted segment being located based on the computation. The retransmitted segment is examined to determine if it is valid.

  • Patent number: 7423976
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for reducing block error rate (BLER) estimate reporting to conserve system resources, while eliminating reports of BLER estimates unlikely to require an adjustment to target signal to interference ratio (SIR). A plurality of data blocks is received over a transmission time interval and the count of data blocks is stored in memory. The data blocks are error checked by an error check unit and the number of erroneous data blocks is stored in memory. A processor performs a BLER estimate calculation based on the data block count and erroneous data block count. A BLER estimate report is produced and sent for target SIR adjustment if triggered by threshold comparisons performed by the processor, including the data block count value compared to a predetermined threshold, and the BLER estimate value compared to a predetermined multiple of the target BLER value.

  • Publication number: 20070013305
Abstract: The invention is directed to a screen-printable getter composition comprising: (a) glass frit; and (b) pre-hydrated desiccant material; dispersed in (c) organic medium. The present invention further relates to a getter composition utilizing low-softening temperature glasses comprising, based on weight %, 1-50% SiO2, 0-80% B2O3, 0-90% Bi2O3, 0-90% PbO, 0-90% P2O5, 0-60% Li2O, 0-30% Al2O3, 0-10% K2O, 0-10% Na2O, and 0-30% MO where M is selected from Ba, Sr, Ca, Zn, Cu, Mg and mixtures thereof. The glasses described herein may contain several other oxide constituents that can substitute glass network-forming elements or modify glass structure. The desiccant material is pre-hydrated to reach its saturation level of moisture absorption. The process of pre-hydration can be done by exposing the desiccant in a normal temperature/humidity environment of for example, 25° C. and 50-60% RH. for 24 to 48 hours or up to the time when weight gain (due to moisture absorption) stops increasing.

  • Publication number: 20060209876
Abstract: An access point receives uplink transmissions from client stations using directional antenna beams. The directional antenna beams are generated by an antenna array. The different directional antenna beams are assigned beam identification numbers, and a preferred antenna beam is selected for each client station. The client stations in the different antenna beam regions initiate their uplink transmissions using assigned backoff slots within the contention window. The access point selects the preferred directional antenna beam corresponding to the directional antenna beams assigned to the backoff slots.

  • Publication number: 20060083939
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to polyimide composites having dispersed in the polyimide base matrix, useful spinel crystal fillers wherein the composite has a visible-to-infrared light extinction coefficient between and including 0.05 and 0.60 microns?1. The composite polyimides formed therefrom are typically used to make circuits having fine electrically conductive pathways adjacent to the polyimide substrate. These fine electrically conductive pathways are typically formed on the substrate using an electro-less metal plating step. First, the surface of the polyimide composite is light activated, typically by using a laser beam, then the light activated portions are plated to form thin lines, or pathways, on the film's surface.
