  • Publication number: 20110305865
Abstract: A sound- and vibration-dampening (NVH) layered composition may be prepared by spraying or spray-foaming a polyurethane heavy layer, and spray-foaming a flexible polyurethane foam layer, under conditions such that the two layers bond integrally with one another without use of glue or other adhesive. Additional layers, that are the same as, or different from, these two layers may also be included in the composition. The layered composition may be used in, for example, automotive applications. The method is faster and requires less hardware and space than conventional methods that include gluing steps or employ heavy molds to withstand the pressures generated therein by methods such as injecting or pouring; however, it may still attain relatively uniform thicknesses even when spraying is done on a substrate that does not become part of the final construction.

  • Publication number: 20110253277
Abstract: A tire filling material comprises a polyurethane or polyurethane-urea elastomer that is extended with a C1-C4 ester of one or more fatty acids. The fatty acid esters are compatible with the elastomer and with the reactive materials that are used to make the elastomer. The tire filling material is soft and has physical properties that are suitable for tire filling applications.

  • Publication number: 20040074215
Abstract: A method for forming an air filter (1, 5) comprising a filter element (2) and at least one seal gasket (3) rigidly secured to said filter element, in which in order to form said gasket (3) a plastic material is cast in a mould (4, 8, 11), and in order to rigidly secure said filter element (2) to said gasket (3) in a sealed manner the filter element is associated with said plastic material while this is in said mould (4, 8, 11) and the curing of said plastic material is still at least partially in progress, wherein for forming each filter its own dedicated mould (4, 8, 11) is used, the mould being maintained removably associated with said gasket (3) after termination of the filter forming process.
