Publication number: 20230388515Abstract: Techniques and solutions are described for encoding digital video files, such as for streaming applications. Data associated with the digital video file forms a dataset that can be characterized by a measure of the dataset's center, such as an average, and a spread of the dataset, such as a deviation, with respective to a bitrate over a duration of the digital video file. The measure of center and spread are used to calculate a deviation-adjusted bitrate. A deviation adjusted bitrate can be calculated for the entire digital video file, or for particular subsets of the digital video file, such as for segments of a duration forming units of video streaming Disclosed techniques can provide various advantages, including using a reduced bitrate for video or video portions as compared with an average or static bitrate, for lower-complexity video, or using a higher bitrate for video or video portions for higher-complexity video.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 31, 2022Publication date: November 30, 2023Applicant: Microsoft Technology Licensing, LLCInventors: Nitin Suri, Carlos Alberto Lopez Servin

Publication number: 20220152936Abstract: Examples of methods generated thermal images are described. In some examples, a method may include simulating three-dimensional (3D) manufacturing to produce a simulated thermal image at a first resolution. In some examples, the method may include generating a thermal image at a second resolution based on the simulated thermal image. In some examples, the second resolution is greater than the first resolution.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 31, 2019Publication date: May 19, 2022Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: He Luan, Jun Zheng, Carlos Alberto Lopez-Collier de la Marliere

Publication number: 20220088878Abstract: Examples of methods for adapting a simulation of three-dimensional (3D) manufacturing are described herein. In some examples, a method includes determining, using a machine learning model, a predicted thermal image based on a thermal imaging stream of 3D manufacturing. In some examples, a method includes adapting a simulation of the 3D manufacturing based on the predicted thermal image.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 11, 2019Publication date: March 24, 2022Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Jun Zeng, Carlos Alberto Lopez Collier de la Marliere, He Luan

Publication number: 20220083712Abstract: Examples of methods for simulating three-dimensional (3D) manufacturing of an object are described herein. In some examples, a method includes simulating 3D manufacturing of an object based on a value. In some examples, the value indicates a sub-voxel proportion of a voxel that is occupied by the object. Some examples of the methods may include determining the value for the voxel.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 7, 2019Publication date: March 17, 2022Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Jun Zeng, Carlos Alberto Lopez Collier de la Martiere, Maria Fabiola Leyva Mendivil, Jose Israel Figueroa Angulo

Publication number: 20220063453Abstract: Systems and methods for controlling vehicle seat position are disclosed herein. An example device can be configured to determine seat configuration parameters of a seat of a vehicle, determine seat weight distribution of a user, automatically adjust the seat configuration parameters in such a way that the seat weight distribution changes as the user is operating the vehicle, and automatically adjust a mirror position of the mirror of the vehicle in response to the automatic adjustment of the seat configuration parameters.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 31, 2020Publication date: March 3, 2022Applicant: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Juan Alejandro Hernandez, Carlos Alberto Lopez

Patent number: 11012472Abstract: Security rules management mechanisms are provided. A cognitive computing system of the security rules management system ingests natural language content, from one or more corpora, describing features of security attacks, and ingests security event log data from a monitored computing environment. The cognitive computing system processes the natural language content from the one or more corpora and the security event log data to identify attack characteristics applicable to the security event log data. A security rule query engine evaluates existing security rules present in a security rules database to determine if any existing security rule addresses the attack characteristics. In response to the evaluation indicating that no existing security rule addresses the attack characteristics, a security rule generator automatically generates a new security rule based on the attack characteristics, which is then deployed to the monitored computing environment.Type: GrantFiled: December 5, 2018Date of Patent: May 18, 2021Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Marina Milazzo, Michael Spisak, Carlos Alberto Lopez Chinchilla, Steven D. McKay, Eric Hanratty

Patent number: 10324494Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques and configurations for an apparatus for detection of a change of electromagnetic field in response to a gesture, to identify the gesture that caused the field change. In one instance, the apparatus may include a first conducting component having first features for the disposal on or around a portion of a user's body, to generate an electromagnetic field in response to a receipt of a source signal. The apparatus may further include a second conducting component having second features for the disposal on or around a portion of the user's body, at a distance from the first conducting component, to provide an indication of a change in the electromagnetic field over time, to identify a change of a position of the user's body portion (gesture) that causes the change in the electromagnetic field. Other embodiments may be described and/or claimed.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2015Date of Patent: June 18, 2019Assignee: Intel CorporationInventors: Jose Rodrigo Camacho Perez, Carlos Alberto Lopez Perez, Paulo Lopez Meyer, Alejandro Ibarra Von Borstel, Julio Cesar Zamora Esquivel, Hector Alfonso Cordourier Maruri
