  • Publication number: 20190208366
Abstract: Embodiments of a Next Generation Node-B (gNB) and User Equipment (UE) are generally described herein. The gNB may transmit control signaling to configure transmission of position reference signals (PRSs) by a plurality of transmit-receive points (TRPs). The gNB may receive, from the UE, for each of the TRPs, a set of signal location parameters (SLPs). The gNB may perform an iterative process to estimate a position of the UE. For a current iteration, the gNB may: determine a current estimate of the position of the UE based on a current plurality of sets of SLPs; and determine a cost function for each of the current plurality of sets of SLPs. The gNB may determine, based on the cost functions, a next plurality of sets of SLPs for a next estimate of the position of the UE.

  • Publication number: 20180359011
Abstract: In a dense wireless environment with spatial diversity and with multiple access points (APs) and multiple users (STAs), a common network controller may be used to determine which AP-STA combinations can operate simultaneously over the same channel without interfering with other AP-STA combinations. Each STA associates with each AP in a way that derives directionality, signal strength, array weight vectors, etc., for that AP and then provides that information to that AP. Each AP collects similar information from every STA in the network, and forwards the collected information to a Central Controller, who uses the combined information from all APs to determine which AP-STA combinations may operate simultaneously without causing interference with each other.

  • Publication number: 20150215821
Abstract: Implementations of the technology described herein provide adjustment to the time-of-departure (ToD) of the start of the acknowledgement frames (ACK) based on the time-of-arrival (ToA) estimation and correction of their corresponding message frames to keep the turnaround time of the acknowledgement frames stable to a predefined order of precision, with special applications for Wi-Fi ranging to achieve double-sided time-of-arrival (ToA) correction accuracy with minimal frame exchanges. A receiving station uses its time-of-arrival (ToA) correction to adjust the transmission time of an acknowledgement message (ACK) so that both the sending station and the receiving station can estimate round trip time (RTT) (or perform ranging) at the same level or higher accuracy.

  • Patent number: 8416862
Abstract: A method for feeding back transmitter beamforming information from a receiving wireless communication device to a transmitting wireless communication device includes a receiving wireless communication device receiving a preamble sequence from the transmitting wireless device. The receiving wireless device estimates a channel response based upon the preamble sequence and then determines an estimated transmitter beamforming unitary matrix based upon the channel response and a receiver beamforming unitary matrix. The receiving wireless device then decomposes the estimated transmitter beamforming unitary matrix to produce the transmitter beamforming information and then wirelessly sends the transmitter beamforming information to the transmitting wireless device. The receiving wireless device may transform the estimated transmitter beamforming unitary matrix using a QR decomposition operation such as a Givens Rotation operation to produce the transformer beamforming information.

  • Patent number: 8392785
Abstract: Aspects of a method and system for a transmitting antenna selection failure recover mode are presented. Aspects of the system may include a transmitting mobile terminal that enables selection of a sequence of protocol data units (PDU), for example a sequence of sounding frames, which may be transmitted during an antenna selection procedure. During transmission of the selected PDU sequence, the transmitting mobile terminal may receive an antenna selection failure indication frame. The transmitting mobile terminal may enable retransmission of at least one previously transmitted PDU in the PDU sequence based on the failure indication. Transmission of subsequent PDUs in the PDU sequence may resume after the retransmission. Alternatively, upon receipt of the failure indication frame the transmitting mobile terminal may restart the selected frame sequence from the beginning, or may select a subsequent PDU frame sequence.
