    Abstract: A distal femoral joint replacement system includes a femoral component having condylar articular surfaces, a stem extending from the femoral component, and a void filler for filling a bone void within a femur. The void filler includes a body and a plurality of legs extending from the body. The body has a sidewall defining an opening for receipt of the stem which extends along a length of the body and extends through the sidewall so as to form a side-slot in the sidewall that extends along an entire length of the sidewall. The plurality of legs each have a first end connected to the body and a second end remote from the body. The legs each have an outer surface that tapers between the first and second ends and is configured to register with a corresponding inner surface of a bone void when implanted in an end of the femur.

    Abstract: A joint prosthesis system includes a femoral component that has an articular side, a bone facing side, and medial and lateral condylar portions. The medial and lateral condylar portions at least partially define an intercondylar recess located therebetween and have a first concave surface extending in a mediolateral direction across the medial and lateral condylar portions. A first modular component has a second concave surface and is connectable to the femoral component such that, when the first modular component is connected to the femoral component, the first and second concave surfaces come together to form a transverse opening extending in the mediolateral direction. A first tibial assembly has a baseplate component and a head extending therefrom. The head defines an axle opening that extends therethrough. An axle is configured to be received within the transverse opening and axle opening so as to connect the tibial assembly to the femoral component.

    Abstract: A corrugated sawblade includes a body extending from a proximal end to a distal end and a cutting element coupled to the distal end of the body. The body is corrugated such that the body forms a wavy pattern defining ridges creating a series of peaks and valleys along the body. The corrugated body reduces the surface area of the sawblade contacting surrounding surfaces such as a cutting guide and the interior of the bone through which the blade is cutting. The decreased surface area in contact reduces friction and therefore reduces the amount of heat generated by the oscillating motion of the blade, reducing the likelihood of osteonecrosis. The cutting surface coupled to the body has a rectangular cross section for producing a planar cut.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatuses and methods for performing joint balancing procedures. The apparatus may have femoral paddle and a tibial paddle attached to a housing. The housing may include a distraction mechanism to vary the space between the femoral paddle and the tibial paddle. The tibial paddle may lie entirely within the femoral paddle in a closed position. A load sensor may be placed in the femoral paddle to measure ligament tension. The apparatus may be inserted into a knee joint and positioned to remain within the knee joint during flexion and extension of the knee without everting a patella.
