  • Publication number: 20160084078
Abstract: A hydraulic fracture diagnostic system for reservoir evaluation of a high angle wellbore includes coiled tubing that extends from the surface to a wellbore location. The system includes a sensor and a pump connected to the coiled tubing and a pump and sensor connected to an annulus between the coiled tubing and the wellbore casing. A tool having at least two packing elements and a port positioned between the packing elements is connected to the coiled tubing and is positioned adjacent a fracture. The packing elements isolate the fracture and the port is configured to provide communication with the isolated portion of the wellbore. A diagnostic method includes pumping a volume of fluid into the isolated portion of a wellbore and monitoring the pressure within the annulus via the coiled tubing. The tool may also be used in an openhole portion of a wellbore to diagnose the formation.

Abstract: A hydraulic fracture diagnostic system for reservoir evaluation of a high angle wellbore includes a coiled tubing string that extends from the surface to a location within a wellbore. The system includes a sensor and a pump connected to the coiled tubing string. A tool having at least two packing elements and a port positioned between the packing elements is connected to the coiled tubing string. The coiled tubing string positions the tool adjacent a fracture. The packing elements isolate the fracture and the port is configured to provide communication with the isolated portion of the wellbore. A diagnostic method includes pumping a volume of fluid from the isolated portion of a wellbore using a coiled tubing string and monitoring the pressure within the coiled tubing string. Pressure within the coiled tubing string may also be monitored after injection of fluid into the isolated wellbore through the coiled tubing string.

  • Patent number: 9228429
Abstract: An apparatus and method are described to estimate a fraction of carbon dioxide present in a downhole fluid. The apparatus includes a carrier configured to be conveyed through a borehole penetrating the earth. The apparatus also includes a pressure sensor disposed at the carrier and configured to measure an ambient pressure of the downhole fluid and an ambient temperature sensor disposed at the carrier and configured to measure a temperature of the downhole fluid. A processor of the apparatus receives the ambient pressure and the ambient temperature measurements and solves for the fraction of carbon dioxide in the downhole fluid using a correlation function with the ambient pressure and the ambient temperature as inputs to the correlation function.

  • Publication number: 20150361774
Abstract: A perforating system for creating perforations that azimuthally circumscribe an inner wall of a wellbore, and that are at substantially the same depth in the wellbore. The perforating system includes perforating assemblies that are housed in a gun body and spaced axially apart. The perforating assemblies have shaped charges positioned at selective angles around an axis of the gun body and at substantially the same axial location in the gun body. Bulkheads are provided between adjacent shaped charges, so that initiating the shaped charges forms angularly spaced apart perforations in a tubular in which the perforating system is inserted. Pressurizing the wellbore with fracturing fluid extends the perforations into fractures, where the fractures are normal to an axis of the wellbore and in a plane of minimum stress.

  • Patent number: 8603493
Abstract: Novel carbosilane dendrimers, their preparation and their uses. The dendrimers of the invention have secondary, tertiary and quaternary amino groups at their branch ends. Their possible uses include vehicles for carrying anionic-charged molecules in the blood, such as nucleic acids, among them ODN and RNAi, and other anionic drugs with which they have the capacity of interacting, protecting them from interaction with plasma protein and/or increasing their penetration rate in target cells. In the cases where the bond is long-lasting, the dendrimers of the invention can be used to fix anionic molecules to surfaces. Their uses also include their administration as active ingredients to prevent or treat diseases caused by micro-organisms with whose structure and/or life cycle they interfere.

  • Patent number: 6529751
Abstract: Both the number and the size of microair bubbles in a bloodstream are accurately determined optically, independently of oxygen saturation, by monitoring the intensity of light transmission in the 800-850 nm range through the bloodstream and indicating the count and amplitude range of peaks in the monitored intensity.

  • Patent number: 5687466
Abstract: A maintenance rack device for use in the performance of a maintenance, or service task on large electrical utility equipment known as reclosers. The maintenance rack includes a portable tiered frame structure adapted with tiered service members that support reclosers that have a mechanical configuration equivalent to those known in the power distribution industry as type R, W, 6h and V6H reclosers. The tiered service members include opposing support plates that support a first type of reclosers and which facilitate removal of the recloser head covers to gain access to the recloser mechanism. A second service member includes a rotatable service bar member for attachment to a second type of recloser and subsequently to the frame structure for manipulating the recloser mechanism that is to be serviced. The reclaser maintenance rack eliminates having to use tables, barrels to service the recloser devices.

  • Patent number: 5305622
Abstract: A lockout apparatus for use on a valve's latching mechanism. The lockout apparatus is a rigid framework formed to encage the exterior structure of a valve and to provide a locking structural member for selective locked securement of the valve's movable latching mechanism, by example in a closed position. The lockout apparatus is sized according to the diameter and size of a valve, by example a ball valve, and includes opposing open-ended structure for accommodating attachment of piping to the inlet and outlet ends of an encaged valve. The locking apparatus is useful in meeting environmental protection requirements for locking outside valves, typically ball valves, an oil tanks and tanker trailers to avoid vandalism and accidental spills.
