    Abstract: A valve repair system, preferably including an annuloplasty prosthesis and a holder for the prosthesis. The holder includes a first component having a central opening, a circumferential surface and an outwardly extending member. The annuloplasty prosthesis is located adjacent to the circumferential surface, above the outwardly extending member. The holder further includes a second component movable upwardly relative to the first holder component and includes a rigid penetrating member extending downward from the second component into the prosthesis, holding it adjacent the circumferential surface. The holder also includes a suturing guide for assisting a physician in valve repair surgery, which may be a cuttable suture extending across the central opening along a path approximating a desired line of leaflet coaption. The cuttable suture may additionally secure the first and second components to one another.

    Abstract: A frame to be placed as an external support of a biological valved conduit containing three leaflets. This external frame, made of biocompatible metal or plastic is sutured to the outer surface of the valved conduit made of biological or biocompatible membrane or sigmoid valve root in order to maintain its natural geometry. The frame has a general cylindrical configuration, circular as viewed from above and below. From a side view however, both upper and lower ends of the cylinder present three convex curvatures joined at equidistant points of the circumference. These upper and lower curves are joined by three vertical struts, so that three large saddle shaped paraboloid gaps result. The frame is a wire-like structure that follows perfectly the anatomical shape of the three sinuses of Valsalva, i.e. it corresponds to the external aspect of the line of implantation of the three sigmoid cusps below and the curved line of the sino-tubular junction above.

    Abstract: A sigmoid heart valve annuloplasty prosthetic ring is disclosed which has a biocompatible stent molded into a scalloped shape, having three sinusoidal struts, to adapt to the anatomical shape of the annulus of the human sigmoid valves. The prosthetic ring is covered with biocompatible cloth. The prosthetic ring can be incorporated into the extremity of a biocompatible tubular cloth which serves as a vascular prosthesis in order to permit the total replacement of the ascending aorta or pulmonary artery without replacing the sigmoid valve.
