The communication link in some embodiments is a wireless link. In other embodiments, the communication link uses a single pair of wires with the power monitoring gateway and the power distribution units configured in a daisy chain topology.

    Abstract: A power distribution unit includes a two pole circuit breaker having a first pole electrically coupled to an x-phase circuit portion of the power distribution unit and having a second pole electrically coupled to a y-phase circuit portion of the power distribution unit. The two pole circuit breaker is so designed that both of the two poles of the circuit breaker trip simultaneously and open even when an undesired electrical condition exists on the portion of the power distribution unit electrically coupled to only one of the poles.
