  • Publication number: 20210014891
Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods are disclosed for frame based equipment (FBE) framework for new radio (NR) systems operating on the unlicensed spectrum. A processor for a base station performs a first clear channel assessment (CCA) using Category-1 (CAT-1) or CAT-2 listen-before-talk (LBT) on an unlicensed spectrum. The processor transmits first downlink (DL) data to one or more user equipments (UEs) within a fixed frame period (FFP) in accordance with a frame based equipment (FBE) framework for new radio (NR) on the unlicensed spectrum. The base station operates as an initiating device and the one or more UEs operate as responding devices. The processor performs a second CCA responsive to a gap of X orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols between a DL burst and an uplink (UL) burst being greater than a threshold gap. The processor transmits second DL data within the FFP responsive to performing the second CCA.

  • Publication number: 20200396767
Abstract: An apparatus of a User Equipment (UE), a computer-readable media, and a method. The apparatus includes one or more processors to: determine a time gap between an end of a downlink (DL) transmission burst from a gNB and a beginning of a following uplink (UL) transmission burst from the UE within a channel operating time (COT) of the FFP; in response to a determination that the time gap is less than or equal to 16 ?s, perform a CAT-1 listen-before-talk (LBT) operation to gain access to an operating channel; in response to a determination that the time gap is more than 16 ?s, perform a CAT-2 LBT operation to gain access to the operating channel; and cause the UE to transmit the UL transmission burst to the gNB on the operating channel and within a fixed frame period after performing the CAT-1 or CAT-2 LBT operation.

  • Publication number: 20200351941
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are disclosed for a UE and its serving base station in 5G NR systems to signal channel scan or channel sensing to allow channel occupancy time (COT) sharing before transmissions. The COT sharing may be initiated by the base station or by the UE by asserting a CCA indication to enable channel sensing by a UE or base station, respectively. When the UE receives and decodes the asserted CCA indication during downlink transmission, the UE may perform channel sensing during a short interframe space (SIFS) between the downlink transmission and a scheduled uplink transmission. When the UE detects that the sensed RF energy across an intended transmission band is greater than an energy detect threshold, the UE may refrain from transmitting during the scheduled uplink transmission. Otherwise or when the CCA indication is de-asserted, the UE may transmit during the scheduled uplink transmission without performing channel sensing.

  • Patent number: 9197298
Abstract: Group identification and definition within multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communications. A group identification definition field may be transmitted to a number of receiving devices for use in interpreting current or subsequently received packets that include a group identification field (group ID). The group ID can serve a number of functions such as indicating those receiving devices for which the packet is intended, the identification of fields within the packet corresponding to the various devices, certain parameters (e.g., code type, code rate, modulation type, etc.) associated with such fields within the packet, etc. The group identification definition field may be updated or modified to allow for modification of the manner in which subsequent packets, including respective group IDs, are processed. One of a variety of events may direct the group identification definition field may be updated or modified.
