Patent number: 11847872Abstract: A system and a method for diagnosing a problem with a motor vehicle using sound. Ambient noise information for the motor vehicle is determined. Current sound information is received, and whether there is a variation in sound between the current sound information and the ambient noise information is determined. The ambient noise information is subtracted from the current sound information if the variation has been identified, to identify a sound anomaly. A sound anomaly signal is extracted and compared with predetermined anomaly signal information stored in a database. The predetermined anomaly signal information is associated with diagnostic information.Type: GrantFiled: February 3, 2023Date of Patent: December 19, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Nathan Lee Post, Carlos J P Chavez, Deborah Janette Schulz, Ashley Raine Philbrick, Eric David Schroeder, Gabriel Carlos Fernandez, Snehal Desai, Rachel Elizabeth Csabi, Ruthie D. Patent number: 11814065Abstract: A method and system of intelligently alerting and/or routing vehicles to improve driving safety is disclosed. The method includes sharing data collected by vehicles in different locations to determine whether the presence of dynamically moving objects such as animals and pedestrians will affect traffic conditions for other vehicles on the nearby roadways. If the system determines there is a likelihood of such objects being obstacles to other vehicles, an alert can be automatically presented to the drivers of the impacted vehicles. The method further includes generating routes for the driver that avoid, or limit, the driver's exposure to the obstacle.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2021Date of Patent: November 14, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Nathan Lee Post, Carlos J P Chavez, Deborah Janette Schulz, Ashley Raine Philbrick, Eric David Schroeder, Gabriel Carlos Fernandez, Snehal Desai, Rachel Elizabeth Csabi, Ruthie D. Patent number: 11768506Abstract: A system may include a first vehicle and a first control system that may control one or more vehicle operations of the first vehicle. The first control system may perform operations including receiving a first vehicle operation signal from a second control system associated with a second vehicle, sending one or more requests to one or more computing systems for a confirmation of the first vehicle operation signal, and determining a set of vehicle instructions to control the one or more vehicle operations based on whether one or more responses from the one or more computing systems provide the confirmation. The first control system may then control the first vehicle based on the set of vehicle instructions.Type: GrantFiled: March 29, 2021Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Carlos J P Chavez, Sacha Melquiades De'Angeli, David M. Patent number: 11757531Abstract: The present disclosure relates to preventing laser access to microphones of smart devices. In one embodiment, a microphone of the smart device may be covered with an opaque material such as a cloth cover. The opaque material may serve as a barrier that is impenetrable to light, thereby preventing laser light to reach the microphone. In a further embodiment, a smart device may prevent the one or more microphones of the smart device from receiving an audio command embedded in a light signal by disrupting the light signal, ignoring the audio command, or both. In another embodiment, the smart device may block the audio command from being received at a microphone of a smart device by determining a frequency of the light signal, instructing a laser jammer to transmit a counter light with the frequency to interfere with the light signal.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2020Date of Patent: September 12, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Carlos J P Chavez, Sacha Melquiades De'Angeli, Oscar Guerra, David M. Patent number: 11741677Abstract: An augmented reality structural assessment system may include a display device, at least one sensor configured to generate image data from a structure, and a processor. The processor may receive the image data that represents one or more portions of the structure and receive motion data representative of a number of steps traversed by a user about the structure. The processor may generate a visualization of a scenario related to structural damage to the one or more portions of the structure of the image data. The visualization may be presented to a user via the display device, such that the visualization augments a view of the structure via the display device to include the one or more dimensions. The processor may then receive input data regarding one or more assessments of damage to the structure corresponding to the scenario, the image data, and the one or more dimensions, and store the data regarding one or more assessments of damage in a storage component.Type: GrantFiled: March 4, 2022Date of Patent: August 29, 2023Assignee: United Services Automobile Association (USAA)Inventors: Carlos J P Chavez, Donna Moncrief Brown, David James, Andrea Richardson, Victoria A.
