Publication number: 20240137612Abstract: The present invention discloses improved methods and systems for identifying transitions between programming content and commercial ad content in pre-recorded media files, live digital broadcasts, or streaming media—content streams—that have no ad break markers encoded therein. The process employs iterative, machine learning context models to improve ad break identification accuracy the more it is used. The present invention enables the dynamic replacement of ads already in the content stream with customized ads “on the fly”. The present invention also enables “on the fly” ad skipping in recorded media.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 23, 2022Publication date: April 25, 2024Inventors: Quintin Fillmon, Carlos Herrera, Junhua Chang, Richard Lucas

Patent number: 9283283Abstract: The present invention relates to hydrogels based on hyaluronic acid based derivatives, that are more resistant than hyaluronic acid alone towards chemical and enzymatic degradation and are endowed with a mix of chemical and mechanical properties such that they are of optimal use in several surgeries, for instance for injection in bone fractures or cavities and for the production of coatings of prostheses in orthopedic surgery, as fillers in cosmetic and maxillo-facial surgery, as anti-adhesion barrier in the prevention of postoperative adhesions in abdominal and abdominal/pelvic surgery, and in general surgery. These hydrogels can be loaded with several different kinds of compounds having pharmacological and biological activity, that are then released from the hydrogel in the site of intervention.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2011Date of Patent: March 15, 2016Assignees: MERO S.R.L., NOVAGENIT S.R.L.Inventors: Gaetano Giammona, Giovanna Pitarresi, Fabio Palumbo, Carlo Luca Romano′, Enzo Meani, Edgardo Cremascoli

Publication number: 20100257565Abstract: A mobile communication appliance (10) sets up a connection to a coordination device (20) via a first mobile radio link (12, 21). This is used to register a request for participation in a radio-based video chat. The mobile communication appliance (10) receives a participation confirmation and records a video signal. The latter is transmitted to a video server (30) via a second mobile radio link (13) for storage. Finally, the mobile communication appliance (10) transmits a message to the coordination device (20), with the message containing a reference to the video signal stored on the video server (30). This reference is forwarded to a transmission station (40), from which the video signal is broadcast as a radio signal (45).Type: ApplicationFiled: January 15, 2007Publication date: October 7, 2010Applicant: BENQ MOBILE GMBH & CO. Publication number: 20060221083Abstract: A technical function that is of interest for mobile or stationary communication terminals is the playing of a video of the corresponding person when a call is received. However, the playing of a video during an incoming call is associated with highly complex processes, as the stored videos have to be decoded in real time. The object of the present invention is therefore to specify a method, which reduces the required computing power and storage capacity. The object is achieved by a method in which an image of the calling person is animated by a face animation algorithm.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2006Publication date: October 5, 2006Inventors: Jesus Guitarte Perez, Carlos Lucas, Klaus Lukas

Publication number: 20060222264Abstract: What has become a widespread function in mobile or stationary communication terminals is taking pictures using cameras integrated in the mobile communication terminals. The pictures are taken sideways or upright depending on the specific situation, but other orientations also occur. Once taken, the pictures can be displayed directly on small screens or used by further applications. If slanted pictures have been taken a user will have to turn the mobile communication terminal to be able to view the face in its correct position. Moreover, face animations using pictures that have been taken are extremely difficult if the faces shown in the pictures are not in vertically oriented positions. To resolve this problem a method determines an optimized orientation of the picture by applying a face-localizing method.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 31, 2006Publication date: October 5, 2006Inventors: Jesus Guitarte Perez, Steffen Harengel, Carlos Lucas, Klaus Lukas
