  • Patent number: 9008841
Abstract: A robot system (10) for picking parts (41) from a bin (40) uses the image from one or more cameras (38) to determine if the robot gripper (24) has picked one part or more than one part and uses one or more images from one or more cameras (38) to determine the position/orientation of a picked part. If the robot (12) has picked more than one part from the bin (40) then attempt is made to return the excess picked parts to the bin (40). The position/orientation of a picked part that does not meet a predetermined criteria is changed.

  • Publication number: 20150032755
Abstract: An object may be categorized upon distribution of the object from a sender system to a recipient system. The object may be assigned to at least one recipient category in a recipient category hierarchy according to a first predefined mapping from a sender category hierarchy to the recipient category hierarchy. The object is initially assigned to a sender category in the sender category hierarchy. There is applied to the object a second predefined mapping from the recipient category hierarchy to the sender category hierarchy. It is determined whether the first and second predefined mappings converge. If the first and second predefined mappings do not converge, there may be executed a rule-based reassignment algorithm to make the first and second predefined mappings converge.

  • Publication number: 20140374303
Abstract: A corrugated paperboard wraparound blank for forming a shipping case is provided, including five wall panels and four sets of end flaps connected via fold lines, at least two sets of stacking tabs, and at least two corresponding sets of receiving slots for receiving the stacking tabs. The wraparound blank is formed of a heavier material than a conventional blank, which would typically be difficult for automatic packaging equipment to form into a case, but the fold lines are creased with optional perforations or scoring. An optional modification aiding folding is presented for conventional case packers. The heavier fiberboard better supports and protects an inner product, such as cartons or paper bottles of liquids and reduces damage to the cap and neck. The heavier material in combination with the stacking tabs allows an increase in stacking height, thereby reducing transportation costs.

  • Patent number: 8875635
Abstract: A method for delivering ballast to a section of railroad track includes measuring an existing ballast profile of a section of railroad track using a remote sensing system, and providing a signal indicative thereof to a first computer. Using the first computer, the existing ballast profile is compared with an ideal ballast profile to compute a track file representing a volume of additional ballast needed as a function of linear position along the section of railroad track, and data representing the track file is transmitted to a second computer of an automatic ballast dump train. Ballast is dumped along the section of railroad track according to the track file under control of the second computer.

  • Publication number: 20140299705
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and a device for producing a roll (18) made of a material web (5) of flexible material which is guided via a contact roller (19) of a winder and is wound in the said winder to form a roll (18), wherein the contact roller (19) maintains contact with the roll (18) during winding and the wrap angle (?) of the material web (5) passing over the contact roller (19), as the former is progressively wound, is maintained throughout at a variable reference value predetermined for each winding. In this way the wrap angle (?) for the winding can be adapted to the respective composition of the material web (5), which improves the quality of the winding.
