  • Publication number: 20230104664
Abstract: The present invention relates to an integrated process that allows the production of tert-butyl ethers of glycerol, used as a high boiling point solvent (HBPS) in paint formulations (water-based) and cleaning products, or a stream of isooctenes to be used as an octane in the gasoline pool, in a simple way, just directing the flow through the areas necessary for the conversion and separation of the process and using the same equipment, aiming at gains in process yield (maximization of glycerol and isobutene conversions) and minimizing investment and operating costs. In view of this, there is a unit flexibility in producing different high added value products.

  • Publication number: 20230002295
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for the production of molecules with seven carbons constituted by a chain of four carbons with three methyl branches, primarily triptane (2,2,3-trimethylbutane), by alcohol coupling reaction (Guerbet reaction), resulting in an alcohol with a four-carbon chain with three methyl branches, which is transformed into triptane. The importance of this method stems from the fact that triptane is the hydrocarbon with the greatest capacity to resist compression without ignition and can be used in unleaded aviation gasolines and in the formulation of high-octane automotive gasolines.

  • Publication number: 20220333021
Abstract: The present invention addresses to a process for the production of alkyl-naphthenics for use as diesel and/or aviation kerosene (JET A-1), whose process involves the alkylation of olefins with monoaromatics and subsequent hydrogenation to alkyl-naphthenics. The process and catalysts of the present invention allow the regeneration of the acidic catalyst with a hydrogenating function and full recovery of its activity with hydrogen hot stripping. The catalyst is used for the formation of intermediate alkyl-aromatics and can also be used in the subsequent hydrogenation to alkyl-naphthenics.

  • Publication number: 20140148616
Abstract: Current industrial processes for the production of lactic acid are fermentative, using lactic bacteria which require large volumes and create large quantities of liquid residue which need to be treated. Chemical literature also describes the use of reaction systems with homogeneous catalysis, which also pose problems which in turn impact our costs, owing to the increased requirements in terms of the control of the process and the type of reactor necessary. Therefore, the process used thus far, carried out in hydrogenolysis, isomerisation and oxidation are defective, owing to the significant formation of sub-products, mainly pyruvic acid and acetic acid and the low yield of lactic acid. Lactic acid can also be obtained by the chemical transformation of other sources other than starch, but which are also renewable. The present invention provides a oxidative process for the production of lactic acid, in which the reaction with pure oxygen or oxygen mixed with air takes place below 100° C.

  • Patent number: 8715372
Abstract: Diesel cycle fuel compositions are described containing at least one dianhydrohexitol compound according to the general formula 2 and/or its derived hydrocarbyl ethers or nitric ethers compounds, where the R? and R? substituents are both H or one or both of R? and R? is alkyl, cycloalkyl or phenyl, or one or both are —NO2. A preferred fuel composition is that containing dimethyl isosorbide (DMI) added or not of isosorbide dinitrate (ISDN) as ignition improver. The dianhydrohexitols compounds form compositions with at least one of the components selected among petroleum-derived diesel fuel, biodiesel, ethanol and water. The mixture of DMI and ISDN has excellent cetane number (IQT). Still, the oxygenated nature of the dianhydrohexitols and related compounds of the fuel compositions inhibits soot formation upon burning of the said Diesel cycle fuel compositions.

  • Patent number: 7955402
Abstract: A method to exploit the glycerin obtained as a by-product of the industrial process to produce biodiesel inside or out of the industrial production unit, providing a reduction in the environmental liability that may be caused by an excess in the production of glycerin that cannot be exploited for industrial use. The referenced method uses recycling of the glycerin obtained through industrial process to produce biodiesel, using a process basically consisting of four stages: a) extracting glycerin produced as a by-product of the industrial process for producing biodiesel; b) hydrogenation of said n-propanol glycerin, c) recycling of the n-propanol thus obtained to be added to a mixture of alcohols; and d) transesterfication of the n-propanol mixture added to the alcohol mixture, together with raw material triglycerides from renewable sources in order to obtain biodiesel.
