Abstract: A system for virus detection, and related method, employ a fluorescence detection device to capture an image of processed samples irradiated by fluorescence excitation light. A system includes a fluorescence detection device and a computing device. The fluorescence detection device includes an image capture device that captures an image of fluorescence emitted by samples in response to incidence of the excitation light onto the samples. The computing device processes the image to determine one or more detection results for the presence of one or more viruses in the samples.

A biological sample is inserted into the cartridge. The cartridge includes reagents and other liquids for processing the biological sample. The cartridge is inserted into the analysis device. The analysis device interacts with the cartridge to complete testing of the biological sample for the presence of the target virus.
