  • Publication number: 20130261230
Abstract: The present invention provides a low-bake powder coating composition comprising A) 10 to 60 wt % of at least one glycidyl-functionalised (meth)acrylic resin, B) 40 to 90 wt % of at least one carboxyl functionalised polyester resin produced by reacting of at least one hydroxyl functionalised polyester resin with cyclic, aliphatic and/or aromatic dicarboxylic acids and/or their anhydrides, and C) 0.01 to 50 wt % of at least one coating additive, pigment and/or filler, Wherein the wt % based on the total weight of the powder coating composition. The powder coating composition of this invention provides compositions which are low-bake compositions providing coatings having high grade of flexibility for outdoor applications. Particularly and surprisingly, the powder coating composition of this invention furthermore provides no blooming of the coatings and excellent flow and appearance properties.

  • Patent number: 8034853
Abstract: The invention provides a powder coating composition prepared from a combination, the combination comprising: A) at least one binder resin and, optionally at least one curing agent, B) at least one calibrated pigmented liquid, based on at least one pigment, and, C) optionally, at least one pigment and/or extenders and/or additive. The powder coating composition of the invention provides a precise color of the coatings having a desired color with high color stability. Therefore there is no need for additional adjustment tests or re-working procedures, and, therefore, it makes it possible to offer efficient, small-batch manufacture of custom colors, for example, to match a swatch of fabric supplied by a customer.

  • Publication number: 20090252869
Abstract: A powder coating composition of an intimate mixture comprising (A) 60 to 99 wt % of a mixture comprising at least one polyester resin and at least one (meth)acrylate resin, (B) 0 to 30 wt % of at least one cross-linking agent, (C) 0.1 to 10 wt % of at least one pigment, component (A) and component (C) are selected to provide the cured-powder coating composition with a low gloss of 1 to 20 gloss units at 60° angle according to DIN 67530 (ISO2813) and a surface structure having a value of Integral 1 in the range of higher than 8.00E+00 measured by the mechanical profilometry Fourier analysis, and the wt % are based on the total weight of the powder coating composition. The powder coating composition provides the desired special metallic effect of the coated surface which meets the metallic effect resulted with anodized aluminium.

  • Publication number: 20090053539
Abstract: A process of powder coating aluminum substrate surfaces comprising the steps a) pre-treating the aluminum substrate surface by a color-less chemical treatment process, b) applying a clear powder coating composition based on at least one (meth)acrylic resin providing a low gloss of the cured coating in the range of 1 to 20 gloss units at 60°, and curing the coating composition. The process makes it possible to provide the desired special effect of the coated surface which meets the effect resulting by the use of an anodizing process. The one-layer clear coating on the substrate provides in addition a high appearance and smoothness of the cured coating, a strong adhesion to the unprimed aluminum substrate surface as well as excellent hardness, corrosion-resistance, weather resistance and light fastness of the cured coating.

  • Publication number: 20090018263
Abstract: An anti-graffiti powder coating composition comprising (A) 30 to 80 wt % of a mixture of at least one polyester resin A having a hydroxyl number in the range of 30 to 60 mg KOH/g, a weight average molar mass Mn in a range of 3100 to 5000 and a glass transition temperature Tg of 40 to 60° C. and at least one polyester resin B having a hydroxyl number in the range of 250 to 350 mg KOH/g, a weight average molar mass Mn in a range of 2000 to 3000, (B) 10 to 40 wt % of at least one hardeners diisocyanates, polyisocyanates or urethdiones, and (C) 0.01 to 40 wt % of at least one coating additive, pigment and/or filler. The powder coating composition provide very good anti-graffiti performance over long time period and good coating properties.
