Abstract: A coated polymeric multilayer article including: (i) a polymer substrate including (a) a first polyolefin-based layer including a primary ethylene-based polymer; and (b) an adhesion layer on at least one surface of the first polyolefin-based layer including one or more secondary ethylene-based polymers selected from secondary polyethylene homopolymers, secondary ethylene-based copolymers of ethylene with one or more C3-C10 alpha olefin monomers or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) copolymer; and (ii) a coating layer on at least one surface of the adhesion layer. A method of producing a coated polymeric multilayer article, the method including the steps of: forming a polymer substrate including a first polyolefin-based layer and an adhesion layer on at least one surface of the polyolefin-based layer; and applying a coating layer composition on at least one surface of the adhesion layer.

Abstract: A gas turbine engine having a heat exchanger is disclosed. In one form the gas turbine engine includes a particle separator that can be used to separate particles or foreign objects and create a dirty flow and a clean flow. A blower can be used to discharge the particles or foreign objects from the separator. The heat exchanger includes a relatively warm flow path from a downstream region of a compressor and a relatively cool flow path from an upstream region of the compressor. The relatively cool flow path is merged with the dirty flow. In another embodiment, the gas turbine engine is a turbofan and the relatively cool flow path is merged with a bypass flow. In one embodiment of the engine the relatively warm flow path, after having exchanged heat with the relatively cool flow path is delivered to a working component without passing through a turbomachinery component.

Abstract: A multi-grid mechanism using peer-to-peer (P2P) platform protocols. An autonomic grid computing mechanism may be used to implement a multi-grid grid computing system. In the multi-grid grid computing system, there may be multiple master nodes, and thus multiple smaller grids (or grid cells) each including one or more compute nodes, in a single (larger) grid. A job submitter node may use one or more P2P platform protocols to discover the master nodes and to obtain information about the grid cells, including information that may be used by the job submitter to automatically select one of the grid cells that is suitable to execute a particular job. After selecting the grid cell, the job submitter may submit the particular job to the master node of the grid cell using the P2P platform protocols.

Abstract: The invention provides a jewellery product comprising a plurality of filling items trapped in an open-mesh shell. The shell comprises a plurality of mesh openings through which the filling items are unable to pass, and at least one filling opening through which the filling items are able to pass. The filling opening is occluded by an occluding member to trap the filling items within the shell. The invention further provides a method of making the jewellery product.

Abstract: A gas turbine engine having a heat exchanger is disclosed. Abstract: A method, device and computer accessible medium for an adaptive contact list. An adaptive contact list may maintain one or more contact entries for corresponding identities. An adaptive contact list may detect context information for a user and may identify context appropriate contact entries according to the current context information and may supply the context appropriate contact entries. Context appropriate contact entries may be supplied to other applications or processes. Further, an adaptive contact list may detect, either periodically or on demand, a change in context information for the user, identify different context appropriate contact entries according to the changed context information, and supply the different context appropriate contact entries. Maintained contact entries may be stored in shared identity objects and an adaptive contact list may request and receive contact entries from an identity framework.

Abstract: A resource discovery and description mechanism for decentralized device and service description and discovery in networking environments is described that generates advertisements in a uniform description format to describe resources on a network. The mechanism may translate resource descriptions from other resource description and discovery protocols to generate the advertisements. The advertisements may be used for cross-network discovery and access of the resources. An advertisement may include, but is not limited to, physical endpoints, virtual endpoints, user-extensible metadata, location information, and a universal unique identifier (UUID) for the associated resource. If a resource cannot provide a UUID, the mechanism generates a UUID for the resource. One embodiment may support proxy nodes for generating advertisements for resources that cannot participate directly in the resource discovery and description mechanism.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for multiplexed data communication tunneling channels. Embodiments of the tunneling mechanism may provide tunnel sockets between networking environments that allow a node in one networking environment to interconnect with network resources in other networking environments. A tunnel socket is a proxy or bridge across a peer-to-peer network between different networking environments. Using the tunneling mechanism, descriptions of network resources in one format may be translated to advertisements in a uniform description format, which may then be published on the network. The published advertisements may be discovered by entities in other networking environments and translated into formats of the other networking environments for access by the entities. To the entities, the resources appear to be in their local networking environment.

Abstract: System and method for decentralized entity presence are described. Presence services may collaborate to form a presence service view on the network. A node providing an entity on the network may provide an entity advertisement to a presence service to advertise the entity's presence on the network. The presence information may be indexed locally by a presence service, and the indexes may be shared with one or more other presence services within the presence service view. A presence service may accept queries from nodes for a specific entity, and walk the query within the presence service view to locate the target entity. The query may then be forwarded to the node advertising the presence entity. The node providing the entity may respond directly to the querying node without going through the presence service. A presence contract may then be negotiated between the nodes without going through the presence service.

According to the invention, binary contents are broadcast over existing propagation mechanisms such as propagation pipes using a generic capability that can be used by any application that wants to multicast binary contents. According to the invention, the binary contents are broken up into file blocks that are then sent over existing propagation mechanisms such as propagation pipes. According to the present invention, the receiving peers negotiate among themselves to make up any file blocks they may have missed from the original broadcast. When each peer has all the file blocks associated with a given parent file, they store the content.

Abstract: This invention allows a system to connect to a user's network and query one or more sources in order to access the identity and state of configuration of the computers connected thereto. In a preferred embodiment, the sources are tried in an order to provide the most usable information with the least use of bandwidth and processing power. One example tries the sources in the following order: 1. the active directory, 2. the domain controllers, 2. a range of IP addresses and 4. a specified input file. The methodology allows a service provider to efficiently and automatically assess the state of the entire network, for example, when a new customer subscribes to the service.

Abstract: A method is provided for restoring and configuring a replacement computer of different type or brand or an original computer with a change in hardware. As disclosed by the invention, all the drivers available in the operating system are turned on by an agent software application if the replacement computer is found to be of a new type or brand, or if the backed up restoration information does not work for all the hardware. Thus, the restoration or configuration process can go smoothly with minimum human involvement.

Abstract: A method for efficiently and conveniently providing a remote troubleshooting service, in which a screen window automatically pops up, in response to an incoming call reporting a problem encountered at a client computer, to show the information that is helpful in solving the problem. The calling number or network address associated with the client computer is used as a key to query a database to obtain the helpful information, which is preferably updated periodically by running a software application in the client computer.

Abstract: A method for providing maintenance services to client computers is disclosed, in which a health check software application periodically runs in each client computer to obtain health information of each client computer and then automatically transmits the obtained health information to a remote service provider for monitoring and diagnosing the client computers.

Abstract: A method and system for efficiently personalizing computer hardware. Under the present invention, a subscriber will store computer personalization information pertaining to their existing servers and workstations with a provider. As the servers and/or workstations are replaced (or upgraded), the personalization information can be transmitted/downloaded from the provider to the new (or upgraded) servers. Once the new severs are personalized, the personalization information pertaining to the old workstations will be sent/transmitted to the new workstations. This transmitted information will be then used to personalize the new workstations.

Abstract: A method and apparatus that allows the user to escape from unwanted Java modal dialog boxes displayed by an applet, even though the Java modal dialog box does not contain a user interface designed to cancel or remove the dialog box from the display. The described embodiment allows the user to use so-called “escape” keys to indicate that the Java modal dialog box should be removed and/or closed. In general, these escape keys have other purposes in addition to removing the Java modal dialog box. A first escape key is a “back” key. Although the back key is typically used within a web browser to return to a previously viewed web page, in dialog box mode, the effect of the back key is to remove the dialog box from the display (under certain circumstances, as discussed below). A second escape key in the described embodiment is the “goto” key.

Abstract: An aerodynamic steering device for a bicycle includes a series of flat, non-hollow, planar surfaces, including of a first portion having a forward end portion and a rearward end portion, a second portion extending laterally outward from the rearward end portion of the first portion and including first and second forearm support surfaces, and a third portion extending forwardly and upwardly from the forward end portion of the first portion to provide first and second forwardly tilted hand gripping surfaces. The device further includes a clamping mechanism for clamping the steering device directly to the steering post of a bicycle, or alternatively to an auxiliary set of handlebars. The steering device is comprised of flat structural sheet members which provide a minimum frontal silhouette, which is especially advantageous in bicycle racing.
