  • Patent number: 7399413
Abstract: A self contained filter for a recirculating tank is used in a septic system. The self contained filter is a mattress-like filter made of woven material encapsulating aggregate material therein. The weave of the mattress-like woven material is smaller than the aggregate material. In another aspect, at least one mattress-like filter is placed within a tank.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 12, 2004
Date of Patent: July 15, 2008

  • Patent number: 5478978
Abstract: Liquid gallium or gallium alloy is utilized as the conductive fluid in a switch or sensor housing. In order to prevent wetting of the interior walls of the switch or sensor housing, the liquid gallium or gallium alloy is either free of metal oxides or has only very low quantities of metal oxides.

  • Patent number: 4217933
Abstract: A diverter valve adapted for use in septic systems for controlling the flow of effluent from a septic tank to a plurality of leach beds, comprising a thick-walled injection molded valve body of PVC or ABS plastic, closed at the bottom and having a centrally disposed valve chamber provided with an inlet, and a plurality of outlet ports, rigid integrally formed ribs extending from the top to the bottom walls of the valve body dividing the same into separate inlet and outlet chambers communicating with the central valve chamber, a circular opening in the top of the valve body adapted to receive an injection molded tapered valve plug, a retainer cap for securing the valve plug and stem in operative position, the lower sides tapered and in contact with the valve body and the lower surface of the depending ring of the cap provided with a serrated surface to form a tight seal with the valve plug.

  • Patent number: 4172799
Abstract: A septic tank system having an improved outlet which may be readily installed in existing septic tanks without modification of the tank or outlet fittings, to prevent the discharge of particles of sewage suspended in the effluent from passing directly into the drain field, the outlet including a "T", a dual conic deflector composed of two cones joined at their bases and flexibly supported directly below the open lower end of the "T" to deflect therefrom effluent containing solid particles rising from the bottom of the tank during the fermentation process. The flexible mounting permits sidewise displacement of the conic deflector so that the upright portion of the "T" can be reamed to remove any accumulation of deposits therefrom, the conic deflector being weighted so as to return to its original position after the reaming operation has been completed.

  • Patent number: 4036249
Abstract: A diverter valve, particularly adapted for use in septic systems, for controlling the flow of effluent from a septic tank to a plurality of leach beds, comprising a thick-walled valve body of cast urethane having a deep circular groove in the upper surface to receive a section of a capped pipe to afford access to the valve control from ground level, and having a centrally and vertically disposed valve chamber provided with an inlet port and a plurality of outlet ports, rigid integrally cast webs extending from the top to the bottom walls of the valve body dividing the same into separate inlet and outlet chambers communicating with the central valve chamber, oppositely disposed circular openings in the top and and bottom walls of the valve body, the walls of the openings providing bearing surfaces for a tapered valve plug of cast urethane having top and bottom circular sections and having a cut-away central section providing a passageway for alternatingly connecting the inlet port with one of the outlet ports.
