    Abstract: Described are a method and a system for generating a short-term forecast of echo tops as defined by weather radar measurements. The method includes receiving echo tops images for different times. An echo tops growth rate and an echo tops maximum value are determined for pixels in one of the images and used to generate echo tops prediction values for an echo tops prediction image. For pixels in regions of the image determined to be subject to convective initiation but where convective weather does not exist, an echo tops initiation height and the echo tops maximum value are determined and used with a predicted precipitation value to generate an echo tops prediction value for each pixel.

    Abstract: A non-invasive imaging and analysis system suitable for measuring attributes of a target, such as the blood glucose concentration of tissue, includes an optical processing system which provides a probe and reference beam. It also includes a means that applies the probe beam to the target to be analyzed, combines the probe and reference beams interferometrically and detects concurrent interferometric signals. The invention includes fitting multiple sets of concurrently acquired data to a profile template and calculating a variance between the profile template and the acquired data sets. It further includes refining the profile template to minimize the variance between at least some of the concurrently acquired data sets to generate a refined profile, correlating the refined profile with data from a data bank stored in memory and processing resulting correlation data to determine an attribute of the target.

An image filter is used to identify areas of interest within a meteorological image that are likely to contain convective weather. The image filter and an image difference processor identify sub-image regions within the meteorological image that are likely to experience a growth and/or decay of weather events. The classification filter classifies sub-image regions within the meteorological image into a number of predetermined storm categories. The meteorological images are filtered using matched filters, features within the filtered images are tracked, and the resulting track vectors are combined according to the storm classification. The meteorological image, interest image, growth/decay image, classification image, and combined vectors are processed to produce the short-term forecast.

The cross-point memory array comprises first and second sets of transverse electrodes separated by a storage layer including at least one semiconductor layer. Each memory element can be switched between low and high impedance states, representing respective binary data states, by application of a write signal in the form of a predetermined current density through the memory element. Each memory element includes a diode junction formed in the storage layer, at least whilst in the low impedance state. A plurality of the data storage devices can be stacked and laminated into a memory module providing inexpensive high capacity data storage.

When used for holding of recycle bins, a homeowner may move the bins from the home to the curb without lifting of the bins yet provide ease of access. The bins are maintained in a substantially parallel and horizontal plane to the ground when placed in an upright and tilted position. Wheels and a handle of the device are predisposed to operate as a stand to assist in maintaining the positional rotation of each bin.
