The absorbent articles have one or more closure system features including dual elasticity, rear closure, and the use of co-adhesives for the fasteners. Products according to the invention may provide any of several benefits, including a high level of comfort in use, resistance to tampering by the wearer, and relatively quiet attachment and detachment of the closures.

The diaper includes large rectangular fasteners that stretch in only one direction. At least one longitudinally extending, elasticized inner leg gather is disposed with the topsheet. The inner leg gather includes at least one elastic member for distributing elastic contractile forces. The inner leg gather is joined to the topsheet along a front tackdown zone and a back tackdown zone. The elastic members and tackdown zones extend in a manner sufficient to provide enhanced fit, functionality and waste containment. The unidirectional stretch fasteners and leg gathers are sized in relationship to each other to enable a complete encircling of each leg to form a better leg gasket for waste containment and fit.

Abstract: A closure tab is provided and includes a first substrate. A second substrate is adhesively attached to the first substrate. The second substrate has mechanical closure material formed thereon. A compression bond pattern is applied to the first substrate and the second substrate. The compression bond pattern includes at least one outwardly extending protrusion. The compression bond pattern may include, for example, circular bond points, stripes, or a decorative element. A method is also provided wherein the second substrate is compressed onto the first substrate by a patterned roller. The second substrate may be compressed onto the first substrate by a plurality of pins spaced in alternating offset rows.

The fastener includes an integral substrate having a stretch zone and a shaped deadened zone. A mechanical closure material is mounted with the deadened zone such that the substrate is configured for releasable engagement with the landing zone of the absorbent article. A surface area ratio of the mechanical closure material to the substrate is less than 65%. A method of manufacturing the absorbent article fastener is also provided.

The non-extensible closure tab portion has a closure tab attachment region for attachment along a distal edge of the extensible portion. The closure tab attachment region is located distally from a proximal edge of the non-extensible portion. The non-extensible portion of the fastener may be substantially centered along a distal edge of the fastener's extensible portion.

The diaper includes a pair of fasteners each of which may be removably attached to a body facing surface of the diaper, and a pair of closure tabs each of which may be removably attached to a body facing side of the fastener. The fasteners and/or closure tabs may be attached to the diaper by ultrasonic, adhesive, compression or thermal bonding. A method of making the diaper is also disclosed and includes the steps of folding the fastener and/or closure tab over a portion of the topsheet, and attaching the fastener and/or closure tab to a portion of the topsheet.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides for a fastener for use with an absorbent article having a first end and a second end and a disengagement portion disposed intermediate the first and second ends. Actuation of the disengagement portion in the direction of the first end disengages the fastener from the absorbent article. In contrast, actuation of the disengagement portion in the direction of the second end does not disengage the fastener from the absorbent article. The disengagement portion is attached generally to a mid-portion of the fastener and may include a finger lift portion.

By incorporating the skin wellness ingredients into the adhesive, the skin wellness ingredients can be precisely placed on those portions of the absorbent garment where at least perceived skin care benefits for the wearer's skin are desired.

The absorbent articles have a variety of decorative appearances. A method for producing absorbent articles from the decorative component material, as well as a method for preparing a package of absorbent articles having varied outer covers, is also disclosed.
