  • Patent number: 12041529
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate an exchange of messages between an access point and a station, wherein the access point requests a unique identifier from the station. The station may either respond with a message declining to provide a unique identifier or respond with a message including a unique identifier to be used by the access point for the station. The response from the station may include additional limitations on the use of the unique identifier by the access point. The access point may enforce different policies against a station depending upon how the station responds to the unique identifier request.

  • Patent number: 10701707
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media may be operable to facilitate an allocation of one or more channels to one or more preferred stations. An access point may be configured to allocate the use of one or more sub-bands of a frequency spectrum to one or more stations. One or more sub-bands may be assigned to one or more preferred stations, thereby creating a plurality of virtual networks provided by the access point. The virtual networks provided by the access point may support different authentication and encryption options. The access point may simultaneously communicate with a plurality of stations by simultaneously transmitting and/or receiving communications over the different sub-bands.

  • Patent number: 10581685
Abstract: A method implemented in a computer system for determining upstream transmission capability in an area of a hybrid fiber-coaxial (HFC) cable plant network, the area including network components, and customer premises equipment (CPE) devices. The method configures a downstream transmission that includes a marker channel, and initiates the downstream transmission to each CPE device. The method sends a query to each CPE device to request a status of the marker channel at the CPE device. The method receives a response to the query from at least one CPE device, and determines a status of each network component based on the response to the query from said at least one CPE device subtending from the network component.

  • Patent number: 10237779
Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer readable media can be operable to facilitate network access management based on measured throughput. In embodiments, throughput at one or more stations or bands of an access point may be monitored and various statistics associated with the monitored throughput may be calculated. Throughput at the stations or bands may be tracked over different durations and the monitored throughput may be compared to average throughputs observed for the stations or bands. The various throughput statistics may be analyzed to make a determination whether throughput at the stations or bands is decreasing and whether current throughput is less than an average throughput observed for the respective stations or bands. If the determination is made that throughput is decreasing and is below average throughput, one or more stations may be moved from a congested access point or band to an alternate access point or band.

  • Patent number: 9736511
Abstract: Particular embodiments use a network device, such as a gateway, as an interface between a first network, such as a hybrid fiber coax (HFC) network, and a second network, such as a home network. The first network includes a frequency spectrum that may be considered “high split”, and the second network has a frequency split that is used by legacy set-top box boxes. A head-end sends a network downstream signal that includes the out of band downstream signal in the downstream frequency band using the HFC network's frequency split. The out of band downstream signal may be represented by digital data. The gateway can then determine samples from the digital data, which are then used to reproduce the out of band downstream signal at the desired frequency for the home network. That is, the out of band downstream signal may be recreated in the frequency range of 70-130 MHz.
