  • Patent number: 7647389
Abstract: In the method for configuration negotiation in a data communication system, an access network receives an access request and a token from an access terminal. The token includes at least one bit associated with a parameter group type, and the bit indicates whether the access terminal is operating according to a default parameter group for the associated parameter group type. The access network sends information to and receives information from the access terminal according to the default parameter group without negotiating a parameter group of the associated parameter group type when a portion of the access network communicating with the access terminal operates according to the default parameter group for the associated parameter group type and the bit indicates the access terminal operates according to the default parameter group for the associated parameter group type.

  • Patent number: 7558196
Abstract: The method and apparatus adaptively adjust a timer based at least on the frequency of transmitted/received packets and the traffic arrival pattern in a data session in the communication system. The expiration of the timer indicates to suspend the data session in the communication system.

  • Publication number: 20070140186
Abstract: The present invention provides a method is provided for blocking alert messages to mobile units. The method includes determining at least one location of at least one mobile unit based on at least one response to a first page message provided to the at least one mobile unit. The method also includes interrupting transmissions to the at least one mobile unit based on said at least one determined location of said at least one mobile unit.

  • Publication number: 20050009522
Abstract: A wireless data network distinguishes among different users connected to the network and associates each user with a service class that offers a selected level of service. The base station in the network queries the user for its unique user identification code and accesses a database linking user identification codes with their corresponding services classes. The network then controls the service level given to that user based on the service class associated with the user identification code. The user identification code can be sent to the network via existing fields in current standards.

  • Publication number: 20030163565
Abstract: In the method for configuration negotiation in a data communication system, an access network receives an access request and a token from an access terminal. The token includes at least one bit associated with a parameter group type, and the bit indicates whether the access terminal is operating according to a predetermined default parameter group for the associated parameter group type. The access network sends information to and receives information from the access terminal according to the predetermined default parameter group without negotiating a parameter group of the associated parameter group type when a portion of the access network communicating with the access terminal operates according to the predetermined default parameter group for the associated parameter group type and the bit indicates the access terminal operates according to the predetermined default parameter group for the associated parameter group type.
