  • Publication number: 20120145174
Abstract: The braid-on wig hair extension includes a base conforming closely to the wearer's head when installed, the base having an outer surface with display hair extending therefrom and an inner surface with a number of attachment tresses extending therefrom. The attachment tresses are combed together with tresses of the wearer's native hair, the combined wig attachment hair and native hair then being braided together to secure the wig to the wearer's head. Native hair not used for wig attachment may be dispensed with, e.g., by forming braids that conform closely to the wearer's scalp, removing the non-attachment hair, etc. The wig may be full or partial. The wig base may be impervious to the passage of the native hair of the wearer therethrough, or may be formed with pores through which the native hair of the wearer may be drawn for blending with wig display hair.

  • Patent number: 7661434
Abstract: The hair-on-hair extension system has hair extensions that include a generally continuous span of natural and/or synthetic attachment hair strands extending from the weft base or edge of the attachment. The attachment hair strands are braided or intertwined directly into braids formed in the native hair of the wearer as those braids are being formed, without the need for additional attachment apparatus. The weft base may include a relatively narrow, linear weft edge having the hair extension and attachment strands extending in the opposite or same direction therefrom, or may include a two-dimensional crown sheet having the hair extension strands extending from a series of wefts from one surface of the sheet and the hair attachment strands extending from the opposite surface. The hair extension may include a separator sheet between the hair extension and hair attachment strands to facilitate manipulation of the hair attachment strands during installation.

  • Patent number: 6832614
Abstract: Various embodiments of wefted hair extension attachments include attachment strands extending from the weft edge of the attachment. These attachment strands are braided or intertwined directly into the braids formed in the native hair of the wearer as those braids are being formed, without need for additional sewing and thread, adhesives, or other attachment apparatus. Use of the present hair extensions saves considerable time for both the person who is installing the hair extensions on the wearer, as well as for the wearer. This is due to the combining of the braiding of the wearer's native hair into an attachment braid or braids, and the securing of the hair extension(s) to the braid(s), in a single step, rather than requiring the braids to be formed and then attaching the hair extensions in a subsequent step, as is accomplished conventionally.
