  • Patent number: 10249482
Abstract: A time of flight mass spectrometer that includes a first electrode; and a second electrode that is spaced apart from the first electrode. The ion source is configured to apply voltages to the first and second electrodes to produce an electric field in a region between the first and second electrodes so as to influence ions present in the region between the first and second electrodes when the mass spectrometer is in use. A shield is formed on the first electrode and/or second electrode. The shield is configured to inhibit an electric field formed between edges of the first and second electrodes from penetrating into the region between the first and second electrodes when the mass spectrometer is in use.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 26, 2015
Date of Patent: April 2, 2019
    Assignee: KRATOS ANALYTICAL LIMITED
Inventors: Diana Kalinina, John Allison, Caroline Breen

  • Publication number: 20130230905
Abstract: A histology tissue embedding apparatus including a reservoir for an-embedding medium and an outlet valve connected to the reservoir through which the embedding medium is dispensable, and including trigger means which control the operation of the outlet valve, the trigger means having a rest position in which the outlet valve is closed, wherein the rest position of the trigger means in relation to the outlet valve is adjustable.

  • Publication number: 20080047970
Abstract: A portable battery operated coverslip dispensing device 50 includes an optical sensor 64. The optical sensor detects proximity, for example the proximity of a user's hand. The optical sensor is associated with a switch that operates the dispensing mechanism 8 in response to a signal from the optical sensor. When that signal has been received, the dispensing mechanism 8 moves the blade 10 through one cycle, i.e. the blade is moved from a start position (as shown in FIG. 1) to an extended position (at which point a coverslip has been moved to the dispensed position 60) and back to the start position. The dispense mechanism then stops. In order to dispense another coverslip the user must activate the optical sensor again.
