    Abstract: Embodiments are directed to a method and apparatus for deploying a contextually dependent application on a mobile device. A method includes determining a current location of a mobile device and gathering environmental data from the mobile device. The method also includes inferring from the current location of the mobile device and the gathered environmental data an operating environment of the mobile device and receiving a list of applications, wherein the list of applications includes metadata for each of the applications. The method further includes analyzing the metadata to identify an application that has characteristics that are compatible with the operating environment of the mobile device and installing the identified application on the mobile device.
