Abstract: An apparatus and system for obtaining sensory data is disclosed. The apparatus includes a housing configured to couple to a first network device, a battery displaced within the housing, and circuitry displaced at least partially within the housing, the circuitry including an integrated circuit, an accelerometer, and a communications interface, wherein the circuitry includes logic configured to perform operations including receiving signals from one or more network devices including the first network device, parsing a first signal to (i) identify a unique identifier of the first network device of the one or more network devices, wherein the first network device transmitted the first signal, and (ii) determine a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value of the first signal, and transmitting a communication to the first network device indicating the RSSI value of the first signal. The housing may be formed from any of hardened plastic, metal, glass, or composite.
