The scoop portion has a receptacle for receiving pet waste and is at least partially defined by a bottom wall and a front wall. The support portion extends between the handle portion and the scoop portion and is configured to provide structural support to the pet waste scooper. The handle portion, the scoop portion, and the support portion are a unitary component that includes a pulp material.

The shield may be formed of pulp and inverted to receive nested pulp sifting trays to define a transport or storage mode, the shield enhancing the combined structure in the transport or storage mode.
