  • Publication number: 20180271534
Abstract: A clip applier may be configured to apply a surgical clip to tissue. The clip applier may include a first jaw member, a second jaw member, and a stabilizing member, each configured to engage the surgical clip. The stabilizing member may be configured to move longitudinally with respect to the clip applier from a first position at least partially between the first and second jaw members to a second position at least partially between the first and second jaw members. The longitudinal movement of the stabilizing member may be constrained to longitudinal movement between the first and second positions. The stabilizing member may include first and second sidewalls on a distal portion, where the first and second sidewalls are configured to stabilize the surgical clip in a lateral direction. The clip applier may include a hinge pin received in a longitudinal channel of the stabilizing member.

  • Publication number: 20180271527
Abstract: A clip applier may be configured to apply a surgical clip to tissue. The clip applier may include a first jaw member configured to engage a distal portion of a first leg member of the surgical clip, and a second jaw member configured to engage a distal portion of a second leg member of the surgical clip. The clip applier may further include a stabilizing member on the first jaw member. The stabilizing member may have a cavity configured to receive a proximal portion of the surgical clip and to reduce lateral movement of the surgical clip. The clip applier may not proximally abut the surgical clip when the first and second jaw members are in an open configuration. The second jaw member may also have a longitudinal channel configured to receive the stabilizing member when the first and second jaw members are in a closed configuration.

  • Publication number: 20180271535
Abstract: A method of securing a surgical clip to a clip applier may include engaging a first applier tip with a first jaw member, and engaging a second applier tip with a second jaw member. The jaw members may be secured within sleeve portions of the applier tips. The surgical clip may then be received between the first and second jaw members and secured with the first and second applier tips. The surgical clip may be secured to the clip applier by receiving a proximal portion of the surgical clip between a first protrusion of the first applier tip and a second protrusion of the second applier tip, receiving a first boss member on a first leg member of the surgical clip in a recess of the first applier tip, and receiving a second boss member on a second leg member of the surgical clip in a recess of the second applier tip.

  • Publication number: 20180271532
Abstract: A clip applier assembly may include a surgical clip and a clip applier. The surgical clip may include first and second leg members configured to ligate tissue. The first leg member may include a first proximal portion, a first distal portion, a first inner surface, and a first outer surface. The first outer surface may have a convex curvature. The second leg member may include a second proximal portion, a second distal portion, a second inner surface, and a second outer surface. The second leg member may further include an inner portion and an outer portion separated by a channel. The second outer surface may be formed on the outer portion and have a convex curvature. The clip applier may have a first jaw member configured to engage the first outer surface and a second jaw member configured to engage the second outer surface.

  • Publication number: 20180271536
Abstract: A clip applier configured to apply a surgical clip to tissue. The clip applier may include first and second jaw members configured to engage distal portions of the surgical clip. The first and second jaw members may be configured to move relative to each other between an open configuration and a closed configuration. The clip applier may also include a stabilizing member having an end portion secured to the first jaw member. The stabilizing member may be configured to engage a proximal portion of the surgical clip and be compressed from a first configuration when the first and second jaw members are in the open configuration to a second configuration when the first and second jaw members are in the closed configuration. The stabilizing member may have at least one bend that facilitates compression of the stabilizing member.

  • Publication number: 20150066050
Abstract: A surgical instrument for use with a mechanized surgical system that includes a roll drive unit operable by a motor. The instrument includes an elongate shaft having a longitudinal axis, and an end effector and handle on the shaft. The handle includes an actuator manually operable by a user to mechanically actuate the end effector. The shaft includes a roll joint positioned between proximal and distal shaft portions, such that the distal shaft portion is longitudinally rotatable relative to the proximal shaft portion at the roll joint. The instrument further includes a drive segment on the distal shaft portion, the drive segment including first features rotationally engageable with second features of the roll drive unit such that operation of the motor causes the distal shaft portion to axially roll relative to the proximal shaft portion.

  • Patent number: 8192426
Abstract: Devices and methods are provided for treatment of tissue in a body lumen with an electrode deployment device. Embodiments typically include a device with a plurality of electrodes having a pre-selected electrode density arranged on the surface of a support. The support may comprise a non-distensible electrode backing that is spirally furled about an axis and coupled to an expansion member such as an inflatable elastic balloon. In some embodiments, the balloon is inflated to selectively expose a portion of the electrode surface while maintaining the electrode density.
