Patent number: 12571436Abstract: A differential disconnect system includes an outer differential housing, an inner differential housing, a clutch plate arranged axially adjacent to the inner differential housing, a clutch spring, and an electromagnet. The outer differential housing has a first plurality of radial notches, the inner differential housing has a first plurality of axial teeth, and the clutch plate has a first plurality of radial tabs engaged with the first plurality of radial notches and a second plurality of axial teeth arranged to selectively engage the first plurality of axial teeth. The clutch spring is arranged to urge the clutch plate towards the inner differential housing to engage the second plurality of axial teeth with the first plurality of axial teeth. The clutch plate is urged away from the inner differential housing to disengage the second plurality of axial teeth from the first plurality of axial teeth when the electromagnet is energized.Type: GrantFiled: February 5, 2025Date of Patent: March 10, 2026Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. Publication number: 20250273375Abstract: A detent solenoid includes an armature assembly with a groove, a coil arranged for displacing the armature assembly, and a detent arranged for seating in the groove. In an example embodiment, the groove includes a first axial side having a toroidal shape and a second axial side, opposite the first axial side, having a conical shape. In some example embodiments, the armature assembly includes an armature and a shaft fixed in the armature, and the groove is disposed in the shaft. In an example embodiment, the armature is made of a ferrous material.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2024Publication date: August 28, 2025Applicant: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. Patent number: 11713789Abstract: A clutch assembly is disclosed herein that generally has at least three operating conditions: an open condition, a transition condition, and a locked condition. The operating conditions are achieved based on displacement of a dog clutch ring relative to a pocket ring and a cam ring. In the open condition, rockers of a ratcheting assembly are completely disengaged from ramps on a cam ring. In the transition condition, the rockers engage with the ramps on the cam ring to allow a ratcheting motion in one rotational direction and a locked state in the other rotational direction. In the locked condition, splines on the dog clutch ring engage with splines on the cam ring to provide a rotationally fixed connection in both rotational directions.Type: GrantFiled: March 1, 2022Date of Patent: August 1, 2023Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KGInventors: Jordan Geiser, Carsten Behler

Patent number: 11661979Abstract: A dog clutch with ratcheting one-way clutch includes an axis, a dog clutch ring, a first ring, a second ring, and a plurality of rockers. The dog clutch ring has a plurality of first teeth. The first ring includes a plurality of second teeth, complementary to the first teeth, a first spline for receiving a first shaft, and a plurality of first pockets. The second ring includes a plurality of third teeth, complementary to the first teeth, a second spline for receiving a second shaft, and a plurality of second pockets. The plurality of rockers is disposed in a one of the plurality of first pockets or the plurality of second pockets for selectively engaging with the other one of the plurality of first pockets or the plurality of second pockets to prevent rotation of the first ring relative to the second ring in only one rotational direction.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2021Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KGInventors: Jordan Geiser, Carsten Behler

Patent number: 11661980Abstract: A one-way clutch, including: an outer race; an inner race; and a rocker assembly. The outer race includes: a first outer race plate defining a first rocker pocket; and a second outer race plate non-rotatably connected to the first outer race plate and defining a second rocker pocket. The inner race is axially disposed between the first and second outer race plates. The rocker assembly is at least partly disposed in the first and second rocker pockets and includes a rocker arranged to contact the inner race, a spring guide including a spring arm, and a spring wrapped around the spring arm and urging the rocker in a pivot direction. The one-way clutch includes: a first annular thrust washer axially disposed between the first outer race plate and the inner race; or a friction-reducing coating adhered to the first outer race plate and facing the inner race.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2021Date of Patent: May 30, 2023Assignee: Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co.
