  • Patent number: 10781797
Abstract: The invention relates to a wind turbine comprising a plurality of individual yaw bearing units and a method of replacing a pad of such a yaw bearing unit. The yaw bearing unit comprises a caliper structure divided into an upper portion and a lower portion, wherein the lower portion can be dismounted without also dismounting the upper portion. An upper pad is provided between a flange providing support for a nacelle and a mainframe of the nacelle. A radial pad is arranged on a radial surface of the upper portion and contacts a stop element located at either ends of the upper portion. An adjustable lower pad is arranged in a through hole in the lower portion and can be replaced via a lower opening in the lower portion. The radial pad can be replaced in a sideward direction by removing one of the stop elements or replacing it in an axial direction by removing the lower portion.

  • Patent number: 9181926
Abstract: A pitch lock system for a wind turbine with a rotor having at least one pitchable or at least partially pitchable blade connected to the rotor at a interface, the blade having an outer blade part and an inner blade part, the blade parts being interconnected at an interface, having a pitch bearing construction with a first bearing ring and a second bearing ring for pitching at least a part of the blade in relation to the rotor. The pitch lock system has a movable toothed segment for interacting with at least one toothed element, and where the pitch lock system further includes an actuator for activating and moving the movable toothed segment into engagement with the toothed element, and thus, locking the pitch bearing construction and thus locking the pitch bearing in the actual position.

  • Patent number: 9133824
Abstract: A method of controlling the yawing of two-bladed wind turbine is described. The yaw speed of the turbine is increased when the wind turbine rotor blades are in a substantially vertical position, and the yaw speed may be reduced when the blades are substantially horizontal. By modulating the yaw rate based on the rotational angle of the blades, the effect of the yaw moments on the wind turbine structure is reduced, and the wind turbine may be designed to take into account such reduced forces.

Abstract: A pitch lock system for a wind turbine with a rotor, at least one pitchable blade and a interface having a pitch bearing system with a first bearing ring, a second bearing ring and a pitch drive installed at a support plate at a structural part connected to the first bearing ring and interacting with teeth on a toothed element, where the toothed element is in fixed connection with the second bearing part. The pitch lock system has at least a base plate and an arrangement for fastening the base plate indirectly to the first bearing ring and a locking pawl that can be fasten to the base plate with an element on the locking pawl interacting with the toothed element.
