  • Patent number: 6900313
Abstract: The invention relates to chiral ionic liquids of the general formula [A]n+[Y]n?, whereby n=1 or 2, the anion [Y]n? is the anion of an organic or inorganic proton acid and the cation [A]+ an optically active organic ammonium cation with up to 50 carbon atoms, at least one chirality center and at least one functional group that can produce a coordination by forming hydrogen bridges or by providing free electron pairs. At least one chirality center is provided with a distance of up to 5 atomic bonds from the functional group. The invention also relates to a method for producing said chiral ionic liquids and to the use thereof in methods for the asymmetric synthesis, the asymmetric catalysis and for separating racemates.

  • Patent number: 6403522
    Abstract: A homogenous catalyst is prepared by reacting a ruthenium or molybdenum carbene catalyst of formula (I): in a non-reactive organic solvent or solvent mixture with a bicyclic olefin of formula (II): wherein X is O, NR1, C(R1)2, S, POR6, or PR6; R1 and R2 independently of each other, are H, (C1-C8)-alkyl, (C2-C8)-alkenyl, (C2-C8)-alkynyl, (C6-C18)-aryl, (C7-C19)-aralkyl, (C3-C18)-heteroaryl, (C4-C19)-heteroaralkyl, (C3-C8)-cycloalkyl, (C3-C8)-cycloalkenyl, (C6-C18)-aryl-(C1-C8)-alkyl, (C3-C18)-heteroaryl-(C1-C8)-alkyl, (C3-C8) -cycloalkyl-(C1-C8)-alkyl, or (C1-C8)-alkyl-(C3-C8)-cycloalkyl, or form together an ═O group; R3 and R4, independently of each other are OR1, SR1, NR12, OR7, SR7, or NR1R7 provided that at least one residue R3 or R4 bears a group R7, R6 is R1, provided that R6 is not H; R7 is a catalytically active group, and optionally with a further olefinic compound (III).

  • Patent number: 6326327
Abstract: It is known that dihydroquinine or dihydroquinidine derivatives can be successfully used as ligands in the enantioselective dihydroxylation. The new disclosed ligand systems based on dihydroquinine/quinidine, unlike the prior art ligands, can be recycled after enantioselective dihydroxylation by precipitating and filtering the reaction medium, and be reused in the reaction medium. Also disclosed are the ligand systems (I) and (IV), process for preparing the same and their use in the enantioselective dihydroxiation of double bonds.

  • Patent number: 6180837
Abstract: The invention involves a procedure for the catalytic enantioselective reduction of ketones to chiral alcohols. Heretofore, this reaction was carried out batch-wise. Because, in this procedure, one utilizes a catalyst increased in size with polymer, it is possible to carry out the reaction in a quasi-continuous manner in a membrane reactor. In contrast to the state of the art, one thus dramatically increases the operative life of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 6180551
Abstract: Process for the formation of MeO-Peg-protected dihydroquinine or dihydro quinindine derivatives, new dihydroquinine-or dihyroquinidine derivatives as well as the use thereof. It is known that dihydroquinine or dihydroquinidine derivatives can be successfully used as ligands in the enantioselective dihydroxylation.
