  • Patent number: 10273803
Abstract: An implement system for a machine includes a boom housing a drive mechanism for a cutting implement, and having a plurality of oil outlet ports formed therein. A control mechanism is configured to receive data indicative of an expected change in location of the outlet ports relative to an oil fill line within the boom, and vary a pattern of incoming oil flow to limit entrainment of air in the oil.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 15, 2016
Date of Patent: April 30, 2019
Assignee: Caterpillar Global Mining Europe GmbH
Inventors: Carl Moberg, Brent Duppong, Frank Kühnemund, Oliver Kortmann, Carsten Butz, Matthew Palmer
  • Publication number: 20180298753
Abstract: A control system for controlling operation of a cutter motor and a cutter boom movement mechanism of a machine includes a sensor that measures an amount of load associated with the cutter motor. A controller determines whether the load on the cutter motor is different from a cutter motor load limit. If so, the controller is configured to adjust a velocity of the cutter boom movement mechanism relative to a tip velocity of a rotary cutting tool associated with the machine based on the difference between the measured cutter motor load and the cutter motor load limit until a torque error of the cutter motor reaches a particular value, for instance, zero. Moreover, the controller may also adjust a current speed of the cutter motor in driving the rotary cutting tool based on the adjusted velocity of the cutter boom movement mechanism.

  • Patent number: 9393622
Abstract: A method for producing a thin-walled structural component from a casting material. The casting material is supplied as a powder, and the powder is deposited on a support (1) by a kinetic cold gas spraying process so as to form the structural component (11, 11?). A structural component which is made of a casting material and in which the structure is formed from a plurality of particles (17) that are interlinked and deformed using a cold gas spraying process.

  • Patent number: 8105016
Abstract: A damping arrangement for guide vanes, in particular for guide vanes of a gas turbine or an aircraft engine, is disclosed. Referring to this damping arrangement, the radially external ends of the guide vanes of a guide vane grid or a guide vane ring are mounted to a housing. The radially internal ends of the guide vanes form an inner shroud. At least one seal bearing is mounted to the inner shroud of the guide vanes. At least one spring element is installed between the inner shroud of the guide vanes and the, or each, seal bearing. The, or each, spring element is configured as a leaf spring.

  • Patent number: 7165771
Abstract: A brush seal assembly is provided for sealing components which move relative to one another. One of the components includes a recess or groove for accommodating a clamping sleeve which supports bristles. A support plate which is formed separately from the component and the clamping sleeve is pressed into the recess and abuts the recess wall surfaces and the clamping sleeve to hold the same in a predetermined working position.
