    Abstract: The invention relates to a setting device for an auxiliary joining part, particularly a setting fastener or a punch rivet, including a driven punch which for a setting movement can be moved in a joining channel to which the auxiliary joining part can be loosely fed. The setting device includes a head piece in which a part of the joining channel runs, further including a plurality of compressed air ducts ending in the joining channel, and an exhaust air channel. The exhaust air channel ends adjacent to the front side of the punch moving the auxiliary joining part into the joining channel of the setting device such that an airflow can be generated in the joining channel in the direction of the front of the punch moving the auxiliary joining part by way of an overpressure which can be generated in the plurality of compressed air channels compared to the atmospheric pressure and by which the auxiliary joining part can be positioned on the front side of the punch.
