  • Publication number: 20150239225
Abstract: A method of welding two parts of a medical device is provided, comprising the steps of providing a first part having an internal surface with a provided welding seam and providing a second part having a joining portion comprising an external surface with an opposite welding seam, wherein at least one of the first and the second part has one or more tensioning members that are configured to interact with the surface of the other one of the first and second part to create a normal force between the welding seam of the first part and opposite welding seam of the second part, and comprising the step of inserting the joining portion of the second part inside of the first part locating at least on welding location and comprising the step of delivering at least one pulse of laser beam energy, each pulse being directed to the welding location.

  • Patent number: 9084852
Abstract: The present invention relates to a piston rod assembly for a drug delivery device, comprising: a piston rod adapted to be operably engaged with a piston of a cartridge containing a medicament, at least one adjusting member displaceably disposed at the piston rod with respect to the piston rod's long axis, and being interconnected with a distal end section of the piston rod, and at least one interlock means adapted to interact with the adjusting member and/or with the piston rod for mutually locking in position the adjusting member and the piston rod in an arbitrary relative position in order to compensate for tolerances of manufacture and/or of assembly.

  • Publication number: 20150119816
Abstract: An assembly for a drug delivery device is provided, the assembly comprising a blocking element and a piston rod having an interaction feature which is adapted and arranged to mechanically cooperate with the blocking element. For delivering a dose of a drug, the piston rod is configured to be moved from an initial position to an end position with respect to the blocking element, wherein the interaction feature is provided along the path between the initial position and the end position. An operating noise is provided to the user when the interaction feature mechanically cooperates with the blocking element while moving the piston rod from the initial position to the end position for dose delivery. The interaction feature is adapted for homogenizing the operating noise so as to prevent the operating noise from being interpreted by the user as signalling the end of the dose delivery operation. Furthermore, a drug delivery device is provided.

  • Patent number: 8986259
Abstract: Various embodiments of piston rod assemblies, drug delivery devices making use of such piston rod assemblies, and methods for assembling such piston rod assemblies and drug delivery devices are provided. In one embodiment, a piston rod assembly for a drug delivery device is provided, wherein the piston rod assembly is configured to engage a piston of a medicament cartridge. The piston rod assembly comprises (i) a piston rod, (ii) at least one adjusting member displaceably engaged with a distal end section of the piston rod, wherein the at least one adjusting member is displaceable along a long axis of the piston rod, and (iii) at least one interlock member configured to mutually lock the at least one adjusting member and the piston rod in an arbitrary relative axial position.

  • Patent number: 8900203
Abstract: The present invention relates to a drug delivery device for dispensing of a predefined dose of a medicinal product, comprising: a housing, a cartridge holder adapted to receive a cartridge containing the medicinal product to be dispensed, the cartridge holder being connectable to the housing, a drive mechanism to be operably engaged with the cartridge for setting and/or dispensing of a predefined dose of the medicinal product, wherein the drive mechanism is axially slidingly supported in the housing for compensating axial clearance between the drive mechanism and the cartridge and wherein the drive mechanism is axially fixable relative to the housing.

  • Publication number: 20140236096
Abstract: A drug delivery device is provided comprising a housing comprising a distal end and a proximal end and a cartridge adapted and arranged to contain at least one dose of a drug, a bung being movably arranged within the cartridge. In an initial state of the device, the bung is arranged in a proximal end position with respect to the cartridge. The device further comprises a piston rod adapted and arranged to move the bung in the distal direction with respect to the cartridge for delivering a dose of the drug. The device further comprises a mechanism operable such that, after a dose delivery operation was completed, the piston rod is moved into the proximal direction with respect to the bung by a back off distance (D), wherein in the initial state, a distance between a distal end of the piston rod and a proximal end of the bung is greater than zero, with the distance between the piston rod and the bung in the initial state being defined by the back off distance (D).
