  • Patent number: 7050925
Abstract: A mechanism for integrated tool manufacture includes a display module and an input module for interrogated all required machining operations and measuring operations and for defining all measurement points, and a machining program module, which from the inputs generates a machine control program, and a measurement program module, which from the inputs pertaining to the measurement generates a measurement program for controlling a measuring machine. Both program modules i.e., the machining program module and the measurement program module, access one and the same data set, which is defined for instance by geometric model. This common data set permits interactive setup of a workpiece on the screen, and the measurement program and the machining program are set up along with it, consistently and in parallel.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 19, 2003
Date of Patent: May 23, 2006
    Assignee: Walter AG
Inventors: Michael Simakov, Christopher Morcom, Carsten Sachs, Christian Dilger

  • Patent number: 6449526
Abstract: In a grinding machine a measurement arrangement is provided for the monitoring of the processing of a work piece, especially to make tools. The measuring arrangement uses, preferably, combined transmitted-light and incident-light based techniques so that both the edges and surfaces and depressions on the work piece are detected precisely. The automatic measurements makes it possible to automatically adjust the process parameters for the grinding process so that changes due to temperature drift, mechanical imprecisions of the mechanical system of the grinding machine or wear on the grinding disks are automatically compensated. This makes possible production of relatively large batches within very close tolerances and with high precision.

  • Patent number: 5864778
Abstract: A device for measuring and calculating the geometrical parameters of an object includes a basic body, a movable and rotatable supporting apparatus for the object, two movable optical area measuring sensors, two illuminating devices allocated to the area measuring sensors, displacement and angle detectors allocated to the supporting apparatus and to the movable optical area measuring sensors, a monitor which is coupled to the area measuring sensors, a computer coupled to the displacement and angle detectors and to the optical area measurement sensors or the monitor, which computer includes a data input device and controllable displacement and rotation devices for the supporting apparatus as well as area measuring sensors being aligned at a right angle to each other and at a right angle or parallel to the axis of rotation of the supporting apparatus.
